Montreal-based indie rock project Hey Gorgeous share their debut full-length album, International Breakthroughs, available now on all streaming platforms. Led by multidisciplinary artist Peet Massé, the album arrives after three years of single releases and artistic exploration, marking the culmination of a creative journey that bridges music, visual art, travel, and self-discovery.
Written and recorded while completing a master’s degree in the arts, International Breakthroughs finds Massé blending raw indie rock energy with electronic textures, experimental production, and deeply introspective songwriting. Across eleven tracks, the album explores the tension between movement and belonging, documenting a search for meaning through both external adventure and internal transformation.
As a multidisciplinary artist working across music and visual arts, Massé brings a distinctly interdisciplinary perspective to Hey Gorgeous. International Breakthroughs reflects that approach, blurring the boundaries between artistic mediums while exploring how creative expression can act as a bridge between cultures, communities, and ways of seeing the world.
Inspired by the spirit of travel, the record moves lyrically between physical landscapes and the emotional terrain we carry with us. From moments of restless uncertainty to hard-earned personal breakthroughs, International Breakthroughs embraces imperfection, curiosity, and creative risk, charting a path toward connection beyond both geographical and psychological borders.
"These songs are rooted in the idea of travel and crossing boundaries, whether physical or introspective," says Massé. "They emerge from the pursuit of a forever-moving horizon, while taking the time to feel the ground moving beneath our feet. The lyrics explore the act of transcending one's condition, venturing beyond familiar territories, and embracing the uncertainty that follows. They reflect the experiences, emotions, and transformations that emerge when love, friendship, and self-growth outweigh comfort.
Ultimately, the album is about what can be achieved once we cross to the other side of those boundaries, an intertwined geographical and mental space that I have come to perceive as a series of breakthroughs."
The album arrives alongside the recently released single and video “Rocker on a Club Run,” a restless late-night anthem exploring the intersection of alternative rock and house music culture. The track serves as one of the album’s central statements, examining the search for common ground between seemingly opposing worlds.
Co-directed by Stephanie-Anne Weber Biron and Peet Massé, the “Rocker on a Club Run” video follows a fictionalized version of Massé through a surreal 24-hour odyssey across Montreal’s bars, nightclubs, and art galleries. Featuring appearances from friends, collaborators, and members of Montreal’s creative community, the video transforms the song’s themes into a visual exploration of identity, belonging, and artistic convergence.
Throughout International Breakthroughs, Massé draws from his experiences as a musician, visual artist, and traveler, crafting songs that refuse easy categorization. The result is a debut album that embraces contrasts: analog and digital, movement and stillness, introspection and celebration, rock and electronic music. Rather than choosing between these worlds, Hey Gorgeous finds meaning in the spaces where they overlap.
