Swarovski Professional is excited to announce its collaboration with the world’s best-selling soprano and classical crossover artist, Sarah Brightman. Sarah is the only recording artist to have simultaneously topped the Billboard Dance and Classical music charts. Her voice has thrilled millions of fans over five continents in theatres, arenas, cathedrals, world heritage sites and Olympic stadiums - all in over ten languages.

In a partnership secured by United Talent Agency (UTA), Swarovski and Sarah Brightman have collaborated to create a truly unique, multi-tiered approach to this entertainment partnership, focused on the November 9 release of her new album HYMN, together with the 125-date HYMN: Sarah Brightman In Concert world tour, starting in late 2018 and continuing throughout 2019.

A long-time admirer of Swarovski crystals, Sarah was able to create a bespoke collection that her fans would feel a natural connection to. To achieve that authenticity, Swarovski invited Sarah Brightman to their headquarters in Wattens, Austria where she was able to draw inspiration from the brand’s rich 123-year history and its corporate archives.

“I want my fans always to be transported, and what is so beautiful about Swarovski crystals is that they add an extra dimension, so you are transported just by looking at the crystals and the light bouncing off them. I really wanted the fans to take away something that would remind them of their experience during the show. I look forward to sharing this collection with everyone,” said Ms. Brightman.

The initial collection will include a range of unisex accessories and bespoke jewelry, and will be available for purchase at Sarah’s concerts globally and online at SarahBrightman.com. Exact dates for the debut of the collection will be announced shortly.

“The collaboration between Sarah Brightman and Swarovski is the perfect example of what we strive to achieve in artist and brand-driven partnerships,” said Toni Wallace, Head of Music Brand Partnerships for UTA. “Both parties are able to elevate and amplify the fan experience through their respective brands and we can’t wait to see it all come together when the tour kicks off.”

Other facets of the partnership include:

  • the creation of a custom tiara for Sarah to wear during her performances, which she co-designed with the Swarovski team.

  •  the application of over 600,000 brilliant Swarovski crystals to adorn the costumes Sarah will wear on stage during her tour.

  •  the creation of special Swarovski VIP packages and hospitality areas at the HYMN World Tour concert dates

  •  a custom Swarovski limited edition version of the HYMN album, with exclusive bonus content.

While Swarovski Professional has a rich history of working with artists to create a sense of sparkling wonder, this collaboration marks the first time it has partnered on such a multifaceted level.

Alexander Wellhoefer, Senior Vice President of North America for Swarovski explained, “It has been an honor to work alongside Sarah Brightman and being a part of her creative process as she prepares for her world tour. It’s our first time integrating with an artist on so many different levels, and we are delighted to have created a limited-edition collection of accessories and mementos featuring Swarovski crystals that her fans will love.”

Calgary Electro Project Carbolizer Announces Release of Debut Album, Releases New Single + Video

Carbolizer_PRHeader.png

WATCH/SHARE 'EDITOR' VIDEO HERE

Two years ago, Calgary musician L. Adam Fox abandoned an album’s worth of idiosyncratic folk-rock songs, intended to be released under his former nom de plume, Field Assembly, as his burgeoning obsession with electronic music production developed. That obsession became his new project Carbolizer and on October 26th he'll be releasing an album's worth of new music as Carbolizer's self-titled debut.

After releasing 2 singles in 2017 ('Ring' and 'exe' ) Carbolizer's third single 'Editor' was released last Friday when the video (directed by Parker Thiessen) premiered on Northern Transmissions. Carbolizer will be playing a string of Canadian tour dates around the album's release starting in Edmonton on October 20th. See below for full tour listings.

With Carbolizer, L. Adam Fox pivots and moves in a completely different musical direction than his previous project Field Assembly, and he found it to be a welcome creative change.

"I had been spinning my wheels for a couple of years following the release of Field Assembly's album Narco," says Fox. "I actually recorded an album of material, but in the end I scrapped it. I did work out some new methods in the process of making that record that led me to the realization that I could expand stylistically by removing some of the limitations that I'd been imposing on my work. I started writing with different instruments, approaching writing without the conventions I'd become used to - that led me from piano to keyboards, to synths, to drum machines, samplers, etc. I realized I could really do anything I wanted, and that led to Carbolizer."

Drawing on a pool of synths, samples, and electronic sources that lean towards the darker spectrum of new wave, industrial and ambient music, Fox’s debut self-titled album as Carbolizer is the musical manifestation of his own existential anxieties of mortality, human and artificial intelligence, and a world on the brink of chaos.

At times conjuring the dreamlike scores of ‘80s-era fantasy films, Fox taps into this unease with airy, elegiac shifts (‘Sky’), blissful futurism (‘Editor’), and a vintage, synth-hued whimsy (‘exe’). With a knack for beautifying the sounds of malaise, some cuts are unintentionally dance-oriented. ‘Ice’ is a collision of wailing electronics, drum machine claps and cold, percussive pitter-patters that flicker like the steady flash of a strobe light, while ‘Time’ moves to a motorik beat, and ‘Ring’ unearths Fox’s most nostalgic analog inclinations.

A traditionalist when it comes to his artistic workflow, Fox opts for hardware over computers. That linear approach to music making also translates into his live shows, which frequently feature the multi-media work of artist Parker Thiessen (also the director of Carbolizer’s latest video 'Editor').

"I love working with Parker, " says Fox.  "We actually spent a couple of weeks together in close quarters at an artist residency at Banff Centre last fall, where I finished writing and recording the material that ended up being this record. I've always been attracted to the aesthetic of his visual art, and I thought that it would be a good fit with some of the themes I'd been preoccupied with. Tensions between technology and progress - antiquity and modernism. The way he manipulates dated technology to create these new ideas is really inspiring to me. I think there's an echo in the dichotomies and questions that informed a lot of the direction of the album."

Carbolizer will be available on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services on Friday, October 26th. For more information and the most up to date tour listings, please visit Carbolizer's Facebook page.

Vancouver Roots Musician Buckman Coe Premieres New Single/Video + Announces Album Release Date

Buckman_PRHeader.JPG

"This song was inspired by my work with the Tiny House Warriors. It celebrates the gathering community of Indigenous and non-Indigenous land and water protectors here at home and around the world." - Buckman Coe

WATCH/SHARE 'Gathering Storm' Video HERE

Just ahead of his show at The Imperial in Vancouver on October 5th, Vancouver roots musician Buckman Coe is premiering his new single and video 'Gathering Storm' today. The song is the first single and title track from his new full-length album set for release on February 22nd, 2019. 'Gathering Storm', the single, will be available on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes and other digital retailers and streaming services on Friday, September 28th.

The new album Gathering Storm is the 7th release and 6th full-length album from Buckman Coe and much like the artist, this album moves through many different musical genres, refusing to be pigeonholed.Gathering Storm is a dance between the revolutionary and romantic. With an emphasis on soulful delivery of messages of freedom and harmony within ourselves, within our relationships, and with the world around us. It is about taking a stand for what you believe in and for who you love. Featuring a stellar line-up of guest artists, Gathering Storm has a lively big band sound that is edgy and psychedelic at times with guitar-driven sections and explorations into blues-tinged Americana, world, and soul.

The album's first single and title track, 'Gathering Storm', may be Buckman Coe's most authentic exploration of roots music to date. And according to Buckman, the song itself has its roots in social activism: "This song was inspired by my work with the Tiny House Warriors. It celebrates the gathering community of Indigenous and non-Indigenous land and water protectors here at home and around the world." Featuring Caleb Hart, 'Gathering Storm' is about all those dedicated people working together to protect our children and our future.

“I wanted to create a song that could be an anthem for communities coming together to create a more just and people-powered world," says Buckman Coe.  "I have been building relationships with many Indigenous leaders working for the resurgence of their culture and in defence of their land and water, and for climate justice. This song is dedicated to the cooperation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples, and to my Secwepemc brothers and sisters who comprise the Tiny House Warriors.”

Buckman Coe will be performing in Vancouver at The Imperial on Friday, October 5th, followed by a short run of BC tour dates. See below for full tour listing. Look for more tour dates to be announced soon around the release of Gathering Storm on February 22nd, 2019. For more information and the most up to date tour listings, please visit: buckmancoe.com

Vancouver Artist Bre McDaniel Set To Release New Album On October 26th

BreMcDanielPRHeader.jpg

FIRST SINGLE 'HOWL' OUT TODAY

WATCH/SHARE VIDEO
HERE

Vancouver artist Bre McDaniel is excited to announce the release of her debut full-length album Howl on October 26th. The first single and title track 'Howl' is out today with the video premiering exclusively at Live In Limbo. Bre will celebrate her new album with a Vancouver release show on November 7th at The Railway Club. See below for full details.

Bre McDaniel released her first EP Hello Starlight in 2013, after completing a degree in visual arts at Emily Carr University. The EP was a collaboration with her oldest brother (Moses Joans) and mixes her folk songwriting sensibilities with electronic textures. With the production help of Vancouver musician/producer Jordan Klassen, Bre released her 2nd EP, Light Pollution, in 2016. Light Pollution is a thematic collection of songs that all relate to perceiving light and value.

When it came time to record Howl, her first full-length album, Bre found the creative process to be quite different.

"My last EP I worked with Jordan Klassen who is a great songwriter and producer and plays a lot of the instrumental parts on the album, and we did the whole thing in two weeks," says Bre. "This time around I worked with producer/engineer Elisa Pangsaeng who isn't an instrumentalist but she is fantastic at directing players, finding harmonies and being sensitive to the moment. I had a lot more involvement in the actual recording on Howl, as Elisa taught me a few things on Pro Tools so I could track little bits at home. It was also a much longer process with more scattered sessions, partly because it originally was going to be an EP and later grew to a full length. I can't recommend Elisa's work enough, though, it was a great experience with her."

With Howl now complete and set for release on October 26th, Bre can't wait to share her creation with the world. A mix of studio tracking and outdoor field recordings in coastal BC, Howl explores the notion of how we need the tonic of wildness. Musically the album is mainly lighter and upbeat - a mix of folk-pop, indie rock, and organic lo-fi textures with thoughtful weaving of intros, outros and interludes. And it's also worth noting that the album was produced entirely by female identifying collaborators.

"It’s exciting to see the demand for female representation in music, and many recent projects are contributing to this conversation, such as Kinnie Starr’s documentary and Laura Marling's Semper Femina album," says Bre. "I want to add to this conversation from my community without hitting people over the head, instead I'm taking deliberate steps that cause people to celebrate and be curious about needed change."

Howl will be available on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services on Friday, October 26th. More tour dates will be announced soon. For more information and the most up to date tour listings, please visit: bremcdaniel.com
