Vancouver Indie Folk-Rock Trio Myles from Home Share New Single VAN TRIPPIN'

STREAM/SHARE HERE

Myles from Home · Van Trippin'

Vancouver indie folk-rock trio Myles from Home share their new single Van Trippin' out now on all digital streaming platforms. Listen here.

Led by visionary musician Myles Hildebrand, Myles from Home makes eclectic genre-bending music with roots in the dynamic world of funk and jazz blended with soothing folk-rock and melancholic lyricism. And those experimental vibes are on full display on new track Van Trippin', taking the listener on a laid-back funky, groovy ride.

"This song was inspired by a weekend trip I did up a steep mountain road to a place called Jones Lake with a lady in her van," says Myles. "All I wore was a hat and all she wore was a mushroom necklace and we had a blast. This song is about the endless opportunities of the open road. We experiment with alternative time signatures throughout and focus on making the grooves feel unusual but still natural."

Defying convention is something that comes naturally to Myles from Home bandleader Myles Hildebrand. When he's not playing music, he directs nuclear fusion strategic partnerships at his day job, which sheds some light on the varied nature of the band's music.

Says Myles: “When I tell folks in the music industry what I do for a ‘day job’, they often don’t believe me. When I tell folks in the fusion energy community I’m in a band, they look at my work outfits and nod in agreement. Ultimately, music is just longitudinal pressure oscillations and we hope you dig the ones we make.”

Known for their highly energetic and entertaining live show, Myles from Home has been described as "getting festival rhythms going right away," even when in a club. Catch them touring around Canada as they lead up to the release of their debut album in 2025.

Van Trippin' is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For tour dates and more information, please visit mylesfromhome.com.

Vancouver Alt-Rockers OurGlassZoo Share New Single + Video SHUT UP

3rd SINGLE FROM NEW ALBUM
HORIZONS OUT ON SEPTEMBER 13th

WATCH/SHARE VIDEO
HERE

Vancouver alternative rock band OurGlassZoo share their new single/video 'Shut Up' out now on all digital streaming platforms via Volunteer Media/The Orchard (Sony Music). Listen here.

The latest single from OurGlassZoo's new album Horizons (release date: September 13th), 'Shut Up' follows previous singles 'Home' (feat. Rachael Schroeder & O.K.A.) and 'Burn' (feat. O.K.A.), released earlier this year. The radio ready electro-tinged alt-rock track pulses with energy and rebellion, leaving the listener with an empowering message.

"'Shut Up' is a rallying cry for anyone who’s ever faced doubters, manipulators, and energy-drainers—those who seek to control and diminish others for their own gain," says lead vocalist/lyricist Josias Tschanz. "Whether it's an educator telling you you're not enough, a boss questioning your capabilities, an 'industry professional' trying to crush your dreams, or a politician peddling hate, we’re here to say: Enough is enough.

The lyrics boldly declare, 'Shut up… I’ll dance around you… in unison and in my own way.' It's a powerful reminder that you don't need to be defined or confined by someone who doesn’t truly know you or who unfairly judges you. Instead, 'dance around them'—let them be nothing more than minor roadblocks on your journey, not the obstacles that stop you."

While the song feels both contemporary and relevant, the video for 'Shut Up' offers a fresh, modern emo-inspired concept. The band’s lead vocalist, who also works as a film director and producer in Vancouver, directed the video.

"The video was filmed at Franklin Studios here in Vancouver, which was the perfect setting for the all-white backdrop concept that we used," says Josias. "To enhance the claustrophobic and rebellious mood of the song, we shot with a handheld camera making it deliberately shaky."

OurGlassZoo recorded their third full-length album Horizons in Fall 2023 with the support of Creative BC and the government of British Columbia at Monarch Studios. The album release show will take place at the Biltmore Cabaret in Vancouver on Friday, September 13th.

'Shut Up' is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit ourglasszoo.com.

BC Jazz-Pop Musician Kate Trajan Shares New Single AMAZON'S DILEMMA

2nd SINGLE FROM NEW ALBUM
ANCIENT FIRES OUT ON SEPTEMBER 20th

STREAM/SHARE HERE

Kate Trajan · Amazon's Dilemma

BC jazz-pop musician Kate Trajan shares her new single 'Amazon's Dilemma' out now on all digital streaming platforms. Listen here.

The 2nd single from her new album Ancient Fires (out on September 20th via Pastiche Records), 'Amazon's Dilemma' is an exploratory genre-bending track about the psychology of power.

"On the surface, this is just another song about Amazon warrior women wondering whether they should be treating their male sex slaves any better," says Kate. "But I wrote it as an exploration of how we treat each other when we become the ones with power. If we have been harmed by others, does that make us more or less likely to treat people with kindness and compassion when we are in control? This Amazon is feeling conflicted."

Currently living on Salt Spring Island, BC, Kate is classically trained in piano and voice, and her songwriting draws on two decades of experience performing with jazz, folk, and indie groups across Canada and in the UK and the Netherlands. Kate released her debut EP Yesterday Left Without Her Suitcase, featuring four original songs, in June 2022. Her first full-length album of original music, Ancient Fires, will be released this September.

Says Kate: "This album is a collection of songs that were mostly written in earlier chapters of my life, or written looking back on those earlier chapters. The title, Ancient Fires, refers to the stars in the sky - just like old flames or life-changing events that burned bright and were all-consuming when they were happening, now from a distance, while they are still there, burning away, I only see them when I step outside on a clear night and look up."

'Amazon's Dilemma' is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit katetrajan.com.

Alberta Musician Ryland Moranz Shares New Single + Video WHEN I'M GONE

1ST SINGLE FROM NEW
ALBUM BETTER/WORSE

WATCH/SHARE VIDEO
HERE

Alberta-based singer-songwriter Ryland Moranz shares his new single/video 'When I'm Gone' out now on all digital streaming platforms via Tonic Records. Listen here.

'When I'm Gone' is the lead single from Ryland's new album Better/Worse, set for release later this year. Recorded by John Raham at Barnhouse Studios in Qualicum, BC, and produced by Leeroy Stagger, the easygoing folk-country track tackles dark subject matter with a positive attitude, encouraging us to live in the moment.

"'When I’m Gone' is my existential dread song, although it’s more optimistic than that may sound," says Ryland. "When I wrote it I was thinking a lot about the world and our place in it and it occurred to me that most folks ride a binary opinion that’s either fate based or fate averse. But if you look out into nature, you see nothing is really like that. I wanted to write something that embraced the entropy of the human condition; something that showcased how, even if you’re not meant to be anywhere, where you are is where you’re meant to be, even if it’s just for a moment. Because nothing lasts forever, but nothing is truly forgotten, either."

The video for 'When I'm Gone' is a composite of 35mm projections from the silent film era using films that are in the public domain. The main films used are: Nosferatu, The Cabinet of DR Caligari, The Pawn Shop, Journey to the Moon, and Fantasmagorie.

Says Ryland: "The purpose of using these films was to support the song's theme by creating a living and breathing estuary of real life and recorded memory. To showcase how all we have is the moment, but the moment is never just the now. It’s everything we’ve experienced up until now."

A folk/bluegrass multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter from Lethbridge, Alberta, Ryland’s highly anticipated forthcoming album, Better/Worse, will be released through Tonic Records later this year. The album takes an earnest snapshot of a world emerging from the brink, or rather, from one brink to another. A spiritual successor to Ryland’s acclaimed 2021 offering XO, 1945, Better/Worse turns the focus from where we have been to where we may be going.

'When I'm Gone' is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit: rylandmoranz.com.

Yukon Indie-Folk Band The August Arrival Share New Single CAMPED OUT

LEAD SINGLE FROM NEW ALBUM
HILLSIDES OUT ON OCTOBER 11th

STREAM/SHARE HERE

the august arrival · Camped Out

Yukon indie-folk band The August Arrival share their melodic and emotionally charged new single 'Camped Out' out now on all digital streaming platforms. Listen here.

Led by Yukon songwriter and vocalist Sara MacDonald, The August Arrival is a solo project supported by friends, incorporating live and recording contributions from an array of musicians who slide in and out of the lineup. Sara was working on her Masters while working on their forthcoming new album Hillsides (out on October 11th), so many of her thoughts and readings at the time were psychology-based, which is apparent on lead single 'Camped Out.'

"The song 'Camped Out' was inspired by a podcast about someone using neurotherapy to get over an ex-partner," says Sara. "This resonated with me, capturing how people, ideas, and thoughts can consume us. Writing this song allowed me to explore my tendency to overthink and obsess while acknowledging the strange comfort that comes from hiding within those fixations."

Described as “well composed, intimate, even mystical folk rock,” The August Arrival unearths something profound within the listener. It conjures up a personalized sentiment that keeps you returning for more. Their upcoming album release Hillsides will resonate deeply with fans of intimate indie folk-rock, drawing inspiration from Postdata, Blind Pilot, and Manchester Orchestra.

'Camped Out' is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit theaugustarrival.com.
