Rosina B. Solomon Shares Laid-Back Reggae-R&B Groove “Girl Code”

Stream/Share HERE

Toronto-based singer-songwriter Rosina B. Solomon returns with “Girl Code,” a chill, reggae and R&B-tinged track featuring Jamaican artist Spliffon. Blending smooth grooves, subtle reggaeton influences, and Solomon’s signature soulful vocals, “Girl Code” is an effortlessly cool reflection on friendship, love, and the choices that come with growing up.

“I was in uni seeing a lot of toxic situations and things I knew I didn’t want to go through, but I wanted the end result of having fun and having someone,” says Solomon. “The song is about how people put romantic love before their friends and priorities—and how I promised myself I wouldn’t be like that, but when I finally got into their position, I kind of understood. Romantic love is a strong feeling, and you can’t really substitute it with anything else.”

Written during the pandemic, “Girl Code” evolved from a jam session that fused reggae and reggaeton vibes – “melding a few different cultures together,” Solomon explains. The result is a laid-back yet emotionally rich groove that captures her genre-blending artistry and global sensibility.

An emerging voice in Toronto’s R&B and neo-soul scene, Rosina B. Solomon has earned recognition from CBC Radio’s Marvin’s Room and In the Key of C for her debut project Intro, which showcased her warm tones and Ethiopian-influenced sound. With “Girl Code,” Solomon continues to expand her sonic palette while giving fans a taste of what’s to come on her forthcoming second EP.

"Girl Code" (feat. Spliffon) is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit her website here.

Chest Fever Brings The Last Waltz Tour 2025 To Canada

Celebrating The Band’s Iconic Concert with All-Star Guests in Vancouver, Toronto & St. Catharines

Watch/Share Chest Fever Live
Performance Video of "Caravan"
Here

Acclaimed revivalists Chest Fever, the official torchbearers of The Band’s legendary legacy, are bringing their celebrated live re-creation of The Last Waltz to audiences across North America this fall – with three very special Canadian shows in Vancouver, Toronto, and St. Catharines.

This marks Chest Fever’s first Last Waltz run since their sold-out 2023 performance at Massey Hall, and their first time bringing the show to Vancouver and St. Catharines. Each concert will feature 10+ special guest performers, with over 60 artists joining the band across six shows in total.

“This is our first Last Waltz show since 2023, and each year we’ve managed to take the body of work to the next level,” says guitarist Dan Cervantes. “When we first started performing The Band’s music, we sought only to do the original justice. Now, we look at how we can turn it upside down, take it over the top, and still—do it justice. Every city is its own beast and journey. We never know how it will all turn out, but we know it’s going to be magic.

The average run time is three hours and thirty minutes—and that’s if we don’t take a break! We encourage our friends and fellow fans to make plans to be out all night. Get a hotel nearby, rent an Airbnb with friends, grab a good meal, and get ready for a show.”

Fans can expect faithful yet electrifying renditions of the songs immortalized by The Band’s 1976 concert, soundtrack, and Martin Scorsese’s legendary film – including new additions to the setlist that Chest Fever have never before performed on tour. As always, surprise guests may join the band on stage, making each night a one-of-a-kind celebration of community and musical heritage.

Dust Cwaine Releases New Album Twin Lakes + Feature Single + Video “Burn After Reading”

Listen + Watch Here

Acclaimed drag performer and indie pop-rock artist Dust Cwaine (they/them) unveils their sophomore album Twin Lakes today, alongside the feature single and video, “Burn After Reading.” The release follows Dust’s recent performance at Victoria’s Rifflandia Festival and precedes their highly anticipated album launch show at The Fox Cabaret in Vancouver on October 2nd.

Written with longtime collaborator and producer Josh Eastman (Kylie V, Turunesh), Twin Lakes is Dust’s most personal and ambitious project to date. Loosely named after the small community outside Cranbrook, BC, where they grew up, the record draws from the “Artefacts” of their past – memories and wounds that no longer pose danger but still shape emotion. Across 11 tracks, Dust translates those Artefacts into songs that balance vulnerability with resilience, weaving stories of childhood survival, accountability, toxic relationships, and unconditional love.

“Being hit as a child looms largest among my Artefacts,” Dust shares. “This album is my way of translating my life to myself. There are songs that capture the visceral nature of those memories, and others that speak to the sweeter experiences. Twin Lakes lives in a harmonious balance of themes that remind us we can’t have the highs without the lows.”

Musically, Twin Lakes builds on the “navel-gaze pop rock” of Dust’s debut album Arcana and EP 17. With acoustic-driven rhythms, shimmering synths, and lo-fi textures inspired by early Tragically Hip and late-’90s David Gray, the album nods to influences like Haim, Tracy Chapman, Indigo Girls, Counting Crows, Matchbox Twenty, and Third Eye Blind. Songs shift perspective verse by verse, creating a dynamic conversation between Dust, their inner child, and the listener.

The feature single “Burn After Reading” (written by Dust and Nathan Doyle) captures this duality, pairing confessional lyricism with a buoyant, cathartic hook. Its video, directed by Cole Schmidt, trades heaviness for levity – a collection of silly, home-video vibes with friends shot in and around Vancouver. The playful footage underscores the song’s uplifting energy, capturing the same sense of release and buoyancy that drives the chorus.

The album also features standout moments like “Little Plans,” a joyful T4T love song that kicked off the project; the cathartic title track and second single “Twin Lakes,” reckoning with childhood trauma and loss; “Tiger Lily,” an imagined letter from Dust’s mother; “Violent Heart,” a song of solidarity between Dust and their younger self; “Starman,” a reminder of being fundamentally loved; and “The Acolyte,” a pulsing reflection on breaking free from toxicity.

“Don’t let the heaviness of the subject matter deter you,” says Dust. “This album is VERY fun, but at its core holds the Artefacts that shaped me. We write our own stories. This is mine, and now it’s yours. Burn After Reading.”

With nearly a decade of performance experience, Dust Cwaine has become a fixture in Vancouver’s drag and music scenes, celebrated for their spellbinding performances and unflinching songwriting. Their work has been championed by Exclaim!, The Jann Arden Podcast, and The Georgia Straight, which named them a Vancouver Local Hero in 2024.

Twin Lakes is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more info, please visit dustcwaine.ca.

PRAISE FOR DUST CWAINE:

"On this release, Dust Cwaine demonstrates that the most personal stories are often the most powerful, and that healing sometimes sings. This is Dust Cwaine at their darkest and bravest. And it's only the beginning. - Zillions Magazine

"Their newest single, 'Little Plans', has a synthesized bop perking up the chorus, pairing with the squealing electric guitar and Cwaine’s enthusiastic vocals to tell a story about the giddy euphoria of love. It’s catchy and cute—the perfect song to hum while picking daisies or painting a Pride placard." - The Georgia Straight

"'Little Plans' captures how new love transforms daily life, emphasizing the ritual in intimacy and validating identities through a T4T lens, supported by vibrant production and emotional depth." - B-Side Guys

"It’s the kind of song that can make someone feel seen, not just heard.” - PopFad

The Eisenhauers Release New Album Back Burner and Feature Single “Well My Dear”

Watch/Share Video Here

Kimberley, BC-based folk-roots duo The Eisenhauers unveil their deeply personal sophomore album Back Burner, available today via Black Hen Music, alongside the release of their third feature single, “Well My Dear.” A tender studio performance video for the track is also out now watch here.

Written by Sheree Plett Eisenhauer, “Well My Dear” explores the patience and persistence required to nurture lasting love.

“This song is a reflection of the patience and persistence that relationships require," says Sheree. "Although it would be nice if things were easy all the time, sometimes taking the harder, more painful path allows for the opportunity to grow together and a chance to learn to love and forgive one another over and over again."

At its core, Back Burner chronicles Sheree and Jeremy Eisenhauer’s journey through a near-separation and their ultimate decision to recommit to both their marriage and their music. Tracked live at Vancouver’s iconic Warehouse Studio with producer Steve Dawson, the 12-song set balances raw intimacy with a vibrant full-band sound. Session players include drummer Leon Power (City and Colour, Frazey Ford), bassist Jeremy Holmes, keyboardist Jen Gunderman (Sheryl Crow), and guest vocals from Jill Barber on the song “Gambler.”

“These songs were born in some of our hardest moments, but they also hold the proof of how music can heal,” reflects Jeremy. “Recording them together reminded us why we started doing this in the first place – and why we’re still choosing each other, and the music, every day.”

From the introspective ache of “Heartache Alley” and “Not Working,” to the hopeful lift of “Pretty Song” and “First Robin,” Back Burner captures the full emotional spectrum of a couple fighting to stay connected. “Well My Dear” stands as a poignant centerpiece – a gentle affirmation that resilience and forgiveness are at the heart of enduring love.

Back Burner is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit theeisenhauers.com.

Canadian Folk Icon Connie Kaldor Celebrates The Prairies On New Album Wide Open Spaces

New Single “This Car” Out Now
Watch/Share Video
Here

Beloved Canadian folk singer-songwriter Connie Kaldor returns with her brand-new album Wide Open Spaces available now on all streaming platforms. Arriving alongside the release is the record’s second official single/video, "This Car" – a nostalgic ode to the vehicles that carry us through our lives, loves, and careers.

A three-time JUNO Award winner and a trailblazing voice in Canadian roots music, Kaldor has always written with honesty, humour, and deep connection to place. With Wide Open Spaces, she turns her focus homeward, crafting a collection of songs rooted in the vast prairies of Western Canada.

“I wanted to do a recording about the prairies – stories, characters, landscape, pedal steel, country roots. Basically, songs that would mean home to me in some way," said Kaldor. "It is an extraordinary landscape in that western part of Canada, and it is often overlooked. Some of the songs are sentimental, some are funny, some are personal, and some I could perform at a prairie wedding.”

Written and released during a time of heightened Canadian pride and political reflection, Wide Open Spaces blends grit, humour, and heart with Kaldor’s signature warmth. From the spirited opener “Outlaw (Revisited)”, which reclaims prairie myth through a woman’s lens, to tender reflections like “Crane Valley Road” and “For Those Who Say”, the album embraces both the joy and challenges of prairie life. Songs like “Hitched Together” and “Raining on the Farm” delve into the struggles of small farmers, climate change, and rural displacement, while celebrating resilience, love, and community – themes that resonate deeply with Kaldor, who spends nearly half the year on her family farm in Southern Saskatchewan.

Wide Open Spaces also reflects Kaldor’s long-standing love for country traditions and classic women writers like Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, and Patsy Montana. The album was co-produced by Zachary Bachand (who also contributes pedal steel) and her husband Paul Campagne, and features contributions from their sons Gabriel Campagne (vocals) and Aleksi Campagne (vocals, violin). Rounding out the ensemble are Stephane Krims (bass), Maude Bastien (drums), and Steve Normandin (accordion).

At the heart of the release is the new single “This Car”, a driving Americana/folk track inspired by a touring vehicle belonging to Kaldor’s friend, Canadian blues singer Suzie Vinnick.

“Suzie has a car that has gone over 500,000 kilometres from gig to gig in this country,” Kaldor explains. “It got me thinking about all the miles we do as musicians and all the vehicles you liked enough to name. I had a red Rabbit GTI years ago that drove me to gigs, through heartache, out of trouble and toward a career that I love. I would drive with the sunroof open, listening to the radio and think, ‘Man, this is living!’ That kind of car.”

A musical force for more than 45 years, Kaldor is a three-time JUNO Award winner, a member of the Order of Canada, and the writer of the beloved prairie classic “Wood River.” In the last year alone, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Woodstock Folk Festival and nominations from both the Canadian Folk Music Awards and Folk Alliance International.

Wide Open Spaces is available now on all streaming platforms. Connie will play Canadian tour dates to support the new album, starting on September 18th in Vancouver, BC. See below for the full tour schedule. For more information, please visit conniekaldor.com.
