Toronto dream pop/indie rock duo Soft Set are back with a brand new single and video 'More More More', out now on all digital streaming platforms. Watch video here.  

'More More More' is the first single from Soft Set's new album Still Life set for release this summer. The bright, melancholic track features Mark Crozer (The Jesus and Mary Chain) on bass and was mastered by Simon Scott (Slowdive) at SPS Mastering studio in the UK. 

"'More More More' is about loneliness and how people generally cope and sometimes never find happiness," says vocalist Nathan Athay. "Most of the time, life doesn’t have Hollywood endings and you should cherish what you have and not waste precious time looking for things you don’t.”

The origin story for Soft Set begins with James Gray and Nathan Athay meeting for the first time in high school in Barrie, Ontario. It didn’t take long in their friendship for them to realize that they had a lot in common, especially when it came to their taste in music. Drawing on influences from iconic artists that have inspired them on their musical path—The Stone Roses, The Smiths, My Bloody Valentine, RIDE, Slowdive, Happy Mondays, The Boo Radleys, Mercury Rev—Soft Set’s music has something for everyone!

Soft Set released their debut EP Love and Dancing in 2020. RIDE’s Mark Gardener mixed the EP at his studio in Oxfordshire, UK (OX4 Sound). Their debut full-length Still Life, which is mixed by Shae Brossard (Arcade Fire, Godspeed You! Black Emperor) and mastered by Slowdive’s Simon Scott, is set for release this summer.

Calgary Indie Rockers I Am The Mountain Release New Single + Video

Canadian indie rockers I Am The Mountain are kicking off 2022 with a brand new single and video ‘Overthinking Conversations’ out now on all digital streaming platforms. Watch video here. 

'Overthinking Conversations' is an epic slow burn track that addresses the power of community when feeling alone and stuck in your head. 

“'Overthinking Conversations' speaks to the uncontrollable automatic process that clouds our minds on a daily occurrence," says vocalist Colton O'Reilly. "The song is a deep dive into the concept of getting stuck in your own head while over-analyzing social situations, and the difficulties of being yourself, even with your own friends. If you’ve ever been caught up in your own thoughts, just know your friends still accept and care about you because they’re probably overthinking everything, too. The full version of the song has three movements, beginning with a softer emotional ballad, to the heavier rock and lyrical section, finishing with a full orchestral reprise.”

Clocking in at just over 8 minutes, ‘Overthinking Conversations’ is not your typical indie rock song. And although the band have also released a radio edit version of the song, they used the full version for the video.

Says Colton: “The videographer who worked on our music video is Finn Westbury, who is a professional sponsored snowboarder, and has filmed many snowboard and skateboarding films for his company SRD Productions. Our music video combines the two worlds of short film and skateboarding videos into an emotional story of heartbreak and rediscovering yourself.”

BC Indie Rockers Leather Apron Revival Release New Single + Video

Just one week before the release of their new album Light & Shadow, BC indie rockers Leather Apron Revival are premiering a brand new single and video 'When The Lights Went Out' which features the album's producer Leeroy Stagger on guest vocals.

Following the release of 'Stagehand' and '8 Years Free' , 'When The Lights Went Out' is the 3rd single from Leather Apron Revival's new album and the moody rocker is pure Canadiana through and through.

"'When The Lights Went Out' is about 3 Canadian natural disasters: The Halifax Harbour explosion, Frank’s Slide, and the Lac-Mégantic rail disaster," says bassist Grady Pasiechnyk. "It’s a somber tune. We were very fortunate to have Leeroy Stagger producing the album, whom we have tremendous respect for as a musician, and we asked if he’d want to be a part of this song. Lee can have such a heaviness in his delivery, which paired perfectly with the gravity of the material, and the back and forth with Lennan added incredible depth to the track."

Leather Apron Revival released their self-titled debut EP in 2019 and their first full-length album Light & Shadow, produced by Leeroy Stagger and mastered by Grammy Award-winning engineer John Greenham, is out on January 28th. The album is full of the band's trademark visceral grooves and bluesy riffs and combines thoughtful songwriting and powerful melodies to create a timeless yet modern rock soundscape with a dash of old-school Canadiana.

‘A Million Monkeys’ is the latest single from Gnarfunkel’s debut album Gnarnia, which is set for release on May 6th. The chill groove-driven track is a road-tested fan favourite about how hard it can be to express your emotions.

"One day you decide that even a monkey, wildly and randomly clacking away at a typewriter, could do a better job. BC Musician Keanu Ienco Announces Release Of New Single + Video I STILL SHINE

BC Native American/Canadian musician Keanu Ienco is pleased to announce the release of his new single and video 'I Still Shine' out today on all digital streaming platforms. Watch video here. 

‘I Still Shine’ is the first single from Keanu's debut album Celestial Desire, which is set for release on March 18th. A thrilling ride from start to finish, the instrumental rock track feels exciting and inspirational with full emotion shining through.

‘"I Still Shine' is an instrumental guitar piece I composed about regaining self-confidence", says Keanu. "It’s really an anthem for remembering your strengths and lifting yourself up. To show this, I wrote the tune to be a high energy thrill ride right from the start with high gain melodic guitar lines and a grooving feel from my rhythm section."

Keanu found his passion for music when his mom bought him a guitar for his eighth birthday. At thirteen he started playing professionally and by the age of sixteen he'd already performed live with numerous groups in British Columbia, and had radio airplay of his own originals. 

In 2019, he graduated from Vancouver Island University with a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies in guitar. During his time at VIU, he spent 4 years studying with Canadian jazz guitarist and composer Lee Ellefson. Keanu has also shared the stage with professional musicians such as Delfeayo Marsalis, Ari Hoenig, and Rufus Reid and met with industry professionals such as Brian May, Steve Vai, and Peter Frampton. 

Keanu’s music pulls from many influences, ranging from the traditional music of North American Indigenous people to rock and jazz guitar players such as Brian May, Plini and Pat Metheny. Pulling from so many influences, Keanu creates unique instrumental rock dreamscapes that fill the listener with the deep emotions put into every note.
