BC Singer-Songwriter Mark Perry Shares New Single BIG ELEVATOR (NANTON)

STREAM/SHARE HERE

MarkPerry · 02 Big Elevator (Nanton)

BC singer-songwriter Mark Perry shares his new single 'Big Elevator (Nanton)' out now on all digital streaming platforms. Listen here.

The 2nd single from his new album Glimpses, 'Big Elevator (Nanton)' is Canadiana at its finest. A song that evokes feelings of nostalgia while road tripping through the prairies.

"I was driving northward after a gig in Nanton, Alberta," says Mark. "It’s a community that proudly displays its historical grain elevators. I sat in the back of the van. The snow was falling. I wrote this song, as is, in about 30 minutes. A retro glimpse of a grain elevator town."

Hailing from Smithers, in Northwest British Columbia, Mark Perry is deeply loved in Canada for his good-humoured and thought-provoking performances that get festival audiences up on their feet and make theatre crowds feel like they’re in his living room. 14 full-length albums and counting, Mark calls what he does “Northwest people music," writing songs inspired by the people and diverse landscapes, from ocean currents to mountain tops.

'Big Elevator (Nanton)' is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more info, please visit markperry.ca.

Vancouver Folk Musician Etienne Siew Shares New Single LEVIATHAN

2ND SINGLE FROM DEBUT ALBUM
SET FOR RELEASE ON JUNE 20th

STREAM/SHARE HERE

Etienne Siew · Leviathan

Canada’s 2023 wildfire season was the most destructive ever recorded and as we head into what looks like another disastrous summer, Vancouver folk-roots musician Etienne Siew shares a song of hope for the BC communities affected by forest fires with his new single 'Leviathan' out now on all digital streaming platforms. Listen here.

The 2nd single from Etienne's debut album set for release on June 20th, 'Leviathan' is a song about the battle for hope, dedicated to the people who have suffered catastrophic loss, in the wake of the wildfires that continue to sweep across North America.

"This is a heartfelt message to the communities of Lytton, Monte Lake and Ashcroft who fought as best they could, while awaiting help from the brave and selfless fire response teams," says Etienne. "After visiting friends who had been affected, witnessing mountains reduced to ash, and hearing stories of the community's strength in the face of disaster, I was compelled to write this song. I hired an artist from Ashcroft to create the piece for the single art, as I wanted a personal connection to the people there and to help someone specifically from one of the affected areas."

Etienne's guitar melodies and lyrics paint a picturesque bridge between the beauty in nature and the listener. His deeply reflective narratives speak about the resilience and perseverance he has found while pursuing his dreams as a singer-songwriter. He leans into his ancestry as an artist of Caribbean and British Heritage, to relay stories of connection and empathy that people from all walks of life can relate to. He has performed internationally, and his authenticity as a songwriter has been recognized numerous times, including the distinction of the Country/Roots Artist of the Year and Top Fan Vote at the 2021 Fraser Valley Music Awards.

His winding path from kinesiologist/coach to singer-songwriter is reflected in his upcoming debut album Chasing Dreams. In this project, Etienne aims to share his reflections as an independent artist and explores the themes of healing, empathy, resilience and social and environmental justice, which were amplified during the wake of the pandemic. Whether he is performing in a theatre, or near a campfire, his blend of warm guitar melodies and powerful vocals will speak to your heart and make you feel as though you are walking beside him in his stories.

'Leviathan' is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit etiennesiew.com.

[Naomi King's pronouns: They/Them]

Vancouver alt-rock musician is pleased to announce the release of their new album Black Water out now on all digital streaming platforms. Listen here.

Completely self-written and produced, Naomi's Black Water LP is a deep and personal project, exploring mental health, bipolar disorder, manipulative relationships, coercion, assault, and healing. From quiet and ambient tunes, to loud and angry rock, to happy pop, to fantasy soundtrack themes, Black Water explores the deepest parts of some of the hardest years of Naomi King's life.

"It's honest, it's deep, and it's also a lot of fun," says Naomi. "I’ve written a lot of music and released a lot of albums, but I really took my time with this one. Black Water is by far my favourite album to date."

To celebrate the release of their new album, Naomi also shares the video for the 3rd single 'Shadow.' Directed by Naomi, the beautiful black and white video artfully conveys the simple beauty of the song.

Says Naomi: "'Shadow' is a song about loss of innocence. About losing oneself when surrounded by others. Many people go through hard times that force us to create versions of ourselves that might actually survive. 'I became what I had to just to stay alive, I couldn't get through the battle alone.'”

Winnipeg Musician Romi Mayes Shares New Single C'MON BABY

LEAD SINGLE FROM NEW ALBUM
SMALL VICTORIES OUT ON JUNE 28th

STREAM/SHARE HERE

Romi Mayes · C'mon Baby

She's back! After a 9-year hiatus, Winnipeg blues-roots guitarist and singer-songwriter Romi Mayes returns with her new single 'C'mon Baby' out now on all digital streaming platforms. Listen here.

'C'mon Baby' is the lead single from Romi's new album Small Victories set for release on June 28th. On this track, Romi borrows from Tom Petty's Honey Bee, creating a sexy, seductive song about what goes on in your mind when you want someone but choose to say nothing.

"I started writing this song in 2010 when I was driving home from a solo tour to Manitoba from Ontario," says Romi. "The highway outside of Sault Ste Marie was closed all the way to Wawa, so a line up of semi trucks and I were all stuck in Batchawana Bay for the night. Luckily, there was a motel on the highway and they had just enough rooms, food, and beer to keep us happy. I played an impromptu show for the truckers and then went to my room. No cell service, a white noise fuzzy tv screen and a blizzard. I stayed up all night and only came up with a couple of the parts, but played it over and over again til sun-up."

Romi Mayes is one of the hardest working independent musicians touring the globe today. She's become a household name in the international music scene and relentlessly continues to support artists in the Canadian music industry through the path she has paved with her company, Curbside Concerts. Over the years, Mayes has garnered three Western Canadian Music Awards (WCMAs) for Songwriter of the Year, two WCMAs for Album of The Year and Blues Artist of The Year, and a Juno Award nomination for Album of the Year. Now on the footsteps of her long awaited 7th album Small Victories, Mayes and her phenomenal band will once again take her sweet and raspy vocals and fine tuned edgy songwriting to stages across the globe.

'C'mon Baby' is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit romimayes.ca.

Edmonton Musician Christin Hyshka Shares New Single BOY BEFORE THE MAN

2nd SINGLE FROM NEW ALBUM RESCUE
WATCH/SHARE LYRIC VIDEO HERE

Edmonton singer-songwriter Christin Hyshka shares his new single 'Boy Before The Man' out now on all digital streaming platforms. Listen here.

'Boy Before The Man' is the 2nd single from his new album Rescue set for release on June 13th. Christin wrote the joyful and upbeat country-tinged track to pass along hope and wisdom to his son.

"I wrote a song for my daughter on my debut album so on this album I thought I better write something for my son too," says Christin. "I think what came out with 'Boy Before the Man' was a manifestation of my future self giving my past self advice on how to lead a good life. I suppose that’s all any parent would want for their son. To try to influence his journey from boy to man in a positive, fulfilling way."

Christin grew up in rural Manitoba listening to Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Steve Earle and was greatly influenced by the imagery that these artists depict through their songwriting. He now lives in Edmonton, Alberta, where he recorded his debut album, The First Word, in 2021 and his sophomore album Rescue, which is set for release on June 13th. His new album is a storyteller of songs that reflect on the human condition exploring themes of fear, longing, faith, and desire.

'Boy Before The Man' is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit christinhyshkamusic.com.
