The Living Orchestra Confront Climate Inaction On New Single PARIS DISAGREEMENT

Second Release From Forthcoming Rock Opera Last Generation, Out May 17, 2026

Watch/Share Lyric Video HERE

Vancouver-based symphonic funk rock collective The Living Orchestra share their powerful new single, “Paris Disagreement,” out today (April 22) in recognition of Earth Day and the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement.

The second release from their forthcoming album, Last Generation – an ambitious climate crisis rock opera – “Paris Disagreement” takes direct aim at global political inaction, examining the widening gap between climate commitments and reality. Urgent and unflinching, the track channels frustration into a dynamic fusion of orchestral scope, funk-inflected rhythms, and driving rock intensity.

“This song was inspired when I found out that almost no nations have come close to achieving their Paris Agreement climate goals, especially the major industrialized ones,” says singer, songwriter, and bandleader Mike Bell. “The song is about political virtue signaling, empty promises, and inaction that could eventually lead to our demise. In our rock opera, this song kicks off the album as one of the three main reasons for our climate crisis—government inaction worldwide.”

As the opening chapter in Last Generation, “Paris Disagreement” sets the tone for a sweeping narrative that unfolds across timelines and perspectives, exploring the causes and consequences of the climate crisis through a bold, genre-blurring lens.

Produced by JUNO Award-winning and GRAMMY-nominated producer Garth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Last Generation was recorded between 2024 and 2025 and brings together a wide-ranging ensemble, including Vancouver’s Black Dog String Quartet, a brass section, a funk rock trio, and a full choir. The result is a richly layered and cinematic body of work that merges musical ambition with a timely and thought-provoking concept.

Emerging from the foundation of Vancouver symphonic rock outfit The Living, The Living Orchestra represents a striking evolution for the group. Formed by musicians who first connected at UBC’s School of Music, the collective now features a roster of accomplished players whose credits span collaborations with internationally renowned artists such as Sting, Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart, Sigur Rós, Michael Bublé, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Marianas Trench.

Blending classical instrumentation with contemporary energy, the band has built a reputation for expansive live performances and forward-thinking composition. Their past appearances include major festival stages such as the Vancouver Jazz Festival and Prog Sud in Marseille, France, as well as recent performances at the Strings & Things Music Festival in Washington State.

Last Generation will be released on May 17, 2026, with a full-scale live premiere at Vancouver’s Hollywood Theatre. The one-night-only performance will bring the album to life as a complete rock opera, featuring an 18-person choir (The Mighty Chorus), immersive visuals, and a programmed light show.

“Paris Disagreement” is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit thelivingorchestra.com.

Ottawa Pop-Punk Band MAJORS Share New Single + Video BULLET ON A STRING

Latest Track From Self-Titled Album Out May 14
Watch/Share Video
HERE

Ottawa’s self-proclaimed “#1 Band in Golf,” MAJORS, return with their electrifying new single and video, “Bullet on a String,” out now on all streaming platforms. The track is the latest preview of their forthcoming self-titled full-length album, set for release on May 14.

Bursting with momentum and swagger, “Bullet on a String” captures the rush of those rare, perfect days when everything clicks. It’s an upbeat, punchy anthem driven by sharp hooks, driving guitars, and the band’s signature blend of early-2000s pop-punk energy with a playful, modern twist.

“It’s inspired by those days where your body and mind are perfectly in sync, and you feel like you can do anything—when you’re on top of the world,” says vocalist Justin Camarena. “Everyone’s had those magic days where a relationship, or work, or a personal project is going perfectly. For us, it’s a round of golf when you’re smashing the ball a mile and can hit any target at will. Hence, ‘bullet on a string.’”

The accompanying music video mirrors that same unfiltered energy. Shot over two days during the band’s November 2025 headlining tour, the video captures live footage from performances at Ottawa’s Rainbow and Montreal’s Turbo Haus. Directed and produced by Ryan Stacey – known for his work with Live Nation and Escapade Festival – the video embraces a fast, DIY approach that reflects the band’s raw performance style.

Working within a tight touring schedule, Stacey and the team built a nimble production setup that could travel in a van, blending Hi8 handycam footage with modern digital visuals. Guerrilla-style filming in Montreal alleyways added to the gritty, spontaneous feel, resulting in a video that feels immediate, chaotic, and true to the band’s live presence.

MAJORS have built their identity on a high-energy fusion of modern rock and classic pop-punk, paired with their tongue-in-cheek, golf-inspired storytelling. As “The #1 Band in Golf,” the group continues to carve out a lane entirely their own, proving that punk rock can be as irreverent as it is catchy.

Following the release of their 2024 EP Songs in the Key of Golf and a run of 2025 singles, including “Etiquette,” “Thinkin’bout,” and “Propagolfi,” the band now sets its sights on their most fully realized statement to date. Their self-titled album arrives May 14 across all streaming platforms, with an exclusive early release available via Bandcamp on May 7 that includes a bonus track.

Mixed and mastered by Dean Hadjichristou (Parkway Drive, Four Year Strong, Protest the Hero), the album also features guest appearances from Ben John Davis of Protest the Hero and Randy Frobel of We Were Sharks.

In support of the release, MAJORS will take the stage alongside Strung Out and Belvedere on May 10 at Ottawa’s Overflow Brewing Co., with additional shows to be announced soon.

“Bullet on a String” is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more info, please visit majorsband.com.

BC Singer-Songwriter Becca Stefanson Shares New Single HOW I FEEL

Stream/Share Lyric Video HERE

Pitt Meadows, BC-based singer-songwriter Becca Stefanson shares her new single “How I Feel”, the same day as the release of her debut EP Going Forward, Looking Back. Rooted in a folk-country sensibility, “How I Feel” is a tender, romantic ballad that highlights Stefanson’s gift for vivid storytelling and emotionally grounded songwriting.

Written as her first exploration into fingerpicking, the track places a strong emphasis on lyrical detail, inviting listeners to step directly into the story. With a soft, intimate delivery and a focus on narrative clarity, Stefanson captures the quiet weight of unspoken emotion and imagined heartbreak.

“‘How I Feel’ is a song about longing for something with someone that no longer feels within reach,” says Stefanson. “This song is inspired by all the stories of heartbreak I have heard, and imagining myself in their place.”

Released alongside the single, Going Forward, Looking Back is Stefanson’s first full body of work. Written over the course of a year, the six-song EP marks a significant creative milestone as she adopts a more focused and intentional approach to songwriting.

“The EP is about looking back and reflecting on past experiences,” she explains. “With all the songs I wrote, I felt there was a common thread between them all, and I knew I wanted them to be listened to together.”

With Going Forward, Looking Back, Stefanson introduces a collection of songs that balance introspection with relatability, offering listeners an honest snapshot of growth, curiosity, and creative discovery. Recorded, produced, and mixed by her father, Todd Stefanson, the project also reflects a deeply personal and collaborative process at the foundation of her artistry.

At just 17 years old, Stefanson has already spent years developing her voice as both a performer and songwriter. Since beginning her musical journey at the age of nine, she has honed her craft through school performances, community events, and regular appearances on the local open-mic circuit. Her sound draws from a wide range of influences, from classic artists such as The Beatles, Stevie Nicks, and Jeff Buckley to contemporary voices including Clairo, Lizzy McAlpine, and Gracie Abrams, alongside a lasting appreciation for 90s rock.

With a natural ability to connect through honest lyricism and a warm, expressive vocal style, Becca Stefanson is an emerging artist to watch as she continues to grow and define her sound.

“How I Feel” and Going Forward, Looking Back are available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit her Instagram page.

Victoria Alt-Rock Group Door d'Or Share New Single WHAT YOU WANT

Watch/Share Lyric Video HERE

Victoria, BC-based alternative rock band Door d’Or share their compelling new single “What You Want,” available now on all digital streaming platforms. The track marks the second release from their debut album, The Exquisite Dream, which is set to arrive on May 1, 2026.

Blending ‘90s-inspired alternative rock with flashes of psychedelic prog and post-punk drive, “What You Want” unfolds with a restless, evolving energy. The song moves between hypnotic grooves and surging guitar work, anchored by a rhythm section that pushes the track forward while leaving space for its more expansive, exploratory edges.

Originally written in the band’s early days together, the track has since taken on new weight. What began as “Song 3” transformed through collaboration, with drummer Darin Steinkey shaping the chorus’s rhythmic backbone and lyrical core. Newly written verses reflect the tension of today’s global climate, while an extended outro – sparked by one of Mike Ison’s fluid basslines – leans further into the band’s post-punk influences.

With its philosophical undercurrent and timely perspective, “What You Want” resonates as both a personal and collective call to examine the forces shaping modern life. The track captures a band engaging directly with the present moment while searching for a more thoughtful path forward.

“This song invites us to question what kind of world we want in the future,” says vocalist and guitarist Mat Geddes. “What kind of human do we want to be? What would you want if you could get what you want? We adamantly oppose violence in all its forms, and this song asks humanity to break the cycles of brutality somehow. By beginning with ourselves, we can overcome the lower emotions of revenge, anger, and hatred. We advocate for evolution, not revolution, to realize a future with no violence.”

“What You Want” offers another glimpse into The Exquisite Dream, recorded in fall 2025 with Juno Award-winning producer Colin Stewart. The album channels Door d’Or’s improvisational roots into a focused studio setting, balancing atmosphere, tension, and melody to create a listening experience that feels both immediate and immersive.

Formed by Mike Ison, Mat Geddes, and Darin Steinkey, Door d'Or reconnected after years apart, rediscovering their creative chemistry in a jam space marked by a symbolic golden door. That space became a catalyst for a renewed artistic vision grounded in connection, exploration, and forward momentum. Joined by a dynamic extended lineup, the band has since developed a sound that merges textural depth with emotional clarity.

In a time defined by uncertainty and division, Door d’Or continue to carve out space for reflection and possibility. “What You Want” stands as a thoughtful and searching addition to their growing body of work, one that invites listeners to look inward while imagining something better ahead.

“What You Want” is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit doordor.ca.

Vancouver Symphonic Funk Rock Group The Living Orchestra Share New Single ANIMAL PARTY

Lead Track From Forthcoming Climate Crisis Rock Opera Last Generation

Watch/Share Lyric Video HERE

Vancouver-based symphonic funk rock collective The Living Orchestra share their bold new single, “Animal Party,” the first release from their forthcoming album Last Generation – an ambitious climate crisis rock opera set to arrive May 17, 2026.

Blending orchestral grandeur with funk-driven grooves and rock intensity, “Animal Party” offers a vivid first glimpse into the expansive world of Last Generation. The track is both playful and pointed, delivering an imaginative post-apocalyptic vision from an unexpected perspective.

“This song is a cheeky fantasy of how animal life would flourish in a post-apocalyptic world,” says singer, songwriter, and bandleader Mike Bell. “In our rock opera, it’s set in 2040, where half of humans have wiped themselves out through climate-related disasters and the ensuing fallout—wars over dwindling resources and super pandemics from fatal diseases spreading north through warmer weather. It’s sung from the animals’ point of view, who are forgiving humans and inviting them to reconnect, unite, and regenerate the world together through ‘rewilding’: restoring ecosystems and biodiversity to mitigate climate change.”

“Animal Party” captures the spirit of Last Generation – a sweeping, multi-perspective narrative told across past, present, and future timelines, where lush orchestration meets urgent, genre-blurring songwriting.

Produced by JUNO Award-winning and GRAMMY-nominated producer Garth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Last Generation was recorded between 2024 and 2025 at The Farm Studios on BC's Sunshine Coast and Vancouver’s Hipposonic Studios. The album features an expansive lineup, including Vancouver’s Black Dog String Quartet, a brass quartet, a funk rock trio, and a full choir, bringing The Living Orchestra’s cinematic vision to life.

Formed from the ashes of Vancouver symphonic rock group The Living, The Living Orchestra marks a fresh evolution for the band. Originally meeting at UBC’s School of Music, the group is now comprised of some of Vancouver’s most accomplished musicians, with credits alongside artists including Sting, Kanye West, Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart, Michael Bublé, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, 54-40, and Marianas Trench.

While Last Generation is the band’s fifth full-length release overall, it marks their first as The Living Orchestra, featuring all six original members alongside eight additional instrumentalists and vocalists, creating a powerful 13-piece ensemble.

In a distinctive and unconventional release approach, Last Generation will first be available exclusively as a physical and digital album on May 17, 2026, coinciding with a full-scale live premiere at Vancouver’s Hollywood Theatre. The album will not initially be available on streaming platforms, inviting audiences to experience the project as a complete, immersive work before its wider digital release later in the year.

The May 17 performance will see Last Generation brought to life in its entirety as a rock opera, featuring the full band, an 18-person choir (The Mighty Chorus), projector visuals, and a programmed light show – offering a one-night-only, multidisciplinary experience that mirrors the album’s sweeping scope.

“Animal Party” is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit thelivingorchestra.com.
