FUBAR'S Deaner & His Band Nightseeker Are Coming To BC!

For Immediate Release:
March 12, 2013

(Vancouver, BC) - Bust out the 2-4's of Pil and get ready to GIVE'R! Deaner (FUBAR/FUBAR II) and his band Nightseeker are returning to BC at the end of April for 4 killer live performances! Yes, it's true. FUBAR’s Deaner has a band, and his band kicks serious ass. They have a sound that’s somewhere between AC/DC, Motorhead, early Sabbath, with just a drop of Poison for the ladies.

Dean "Deaner" Murdoch and Nightseeker first went on tour in the Fall of 2011 to have some fun. It was three weeks of killer shows and deadly after parties, selling out almost every town from Vancouver to Fort McMurray. Nightseeker brought the Deaner legend to another level, and has toured regularly ever since. It’s not just loud. It’s not just a party. It’s good old fashioned rock and roll - the ultimate night of Givn’r.

Nightseeker have recorded enough music for one full album and were featured on the FUBAR II soundtrack. FUBAR II the film was released in 2010/2011 across canada to sell-out crowds, and went on to become the top selling comedy of year in Canada. The touring band is the same band that laid recorded the kick-ass soundtrack for FUBAR II.

Deaner and Nightseeker will kick off their tour of BC on April 24th in Victoria with stops in Vancouver, Kelowna and Kamloops. For more info and the most up-to-date tour listings, please visit Nightseeker's Facebook page and check out @dean_murdoch on Twitter for some deadly Beerlosophy, such as: "I don't see the glass half empty. For Immediate Release:
February 28, 2013

(Vancouver, BC) - A lot can happen in a year. After creating a huge buzz at Canadian Music Week in 2012, The Washboard Union spent the rest of the year spreading the good word about the band. The Vancouver-based group released their critically acclaimed debut album in June 2012 and went on to be featured at several Canadian festivals including: (Rifflandia, Live at Squamish, and the Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival) where the band received multiple “best of the fest” nods. Now, with all that experience under their collective belts, The Washboard Union return to CMW to perform 4 separate, boot-stomping shows, starting on Wednesday, March 20th at The Dakota!

Known for their incredible live show, The Washboard Union is "a 3 car pile up of Steve Earle, Old Crow Medicine Show and the Avett Brothers". With 7 members and 4 singers their sound is undeniable. Add to that banjo, dojo, harp, guitar, fiddle, drums, and of course, the mighty washboard! The Washboard Union's self-titled debut album was produced by Canadian super producer Gggarth Richardson (RHCP, Rage Against the Machine) with "Halfcree" produced by the legendary Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Lou Reed). The 12-track album even includes a cover of the 1947 Alton Delmore song "Midnight Train".

Producer Gggarth Richardson was proud to be at the helm of The Washboard Union's debut album. "Working with The Washboard Union was a musical dream," said Richardson. "Not only were they true gentleman, their music was a breath of fresh air, and we've become life long friends. Their music was a honour to be apart of and I would do it again and again.  One of Canada's best kept secrets."

Donovan Woods To Release 3rd Album Don't Get Too Grand On March 26th

(Toronto, ON) - Toronto singer/songwriter Donovan Woods' third album Don't Get Too Grand, featuring the singles "Put On, Cologne" and "The Coldest State", will be released through Aporia Records/Outside Distribution on March 26th. In anticipation of the album release, the Sarnia native will be performing the week prior at Canadian Music Week (CMW) in Toronto. Woods will be performing multiple shows at CMW, including The Marriot Hotel Lounge Bar on Friday, March 22nd and at The Central on Saturday, March 23rd. More shows will be announced soon, including a Toronto album release show in April, and he's currently planning tour dates across Canada for late spring and throughout the summer.

With a voice as notable as his lyrics, Donovan Woods is widely recognized as an acclaimed recording artist and performer as well as an in-demand country and folk songwriter from Toronto to Nashville. His first two albums (The Hold-Up, 2008 and The Widowmaker, 2011) were released to glowing reviews, praising songwriting that is “brief and spare, while his husky vocals and smart lyrics pack the emotional punch" (NOW Magazine). His work has been featured on CBC Radio where he’s in regular rotation across the country and he recently completed a tour of Canada and England. Woods has also carved out a niche for himself as a busy songwriter for TV and film. His music has appeared on television shows like “Felicity,” “Degrassi: The Next Generation,” ABC’s “My Generation,” and the Matthew Perry film “Numb.” Shuttling between his Ontario home and frequent collaborations in Nashville, Woods has co-written songs with the likes of Grammy Award winner Marcus Hummon and One Flew South’s Chris Roberts.

Upon the release of this third album, Don’t Get Too Grand, Donovan Woods further hones his distinctive style. Amidst precise writing and restrained, yearning arrangements, Woods explores the landscapes of his life, inside and out. Piercingly honest and quietly anthemic, he sings with a striking sense of the world that produced him – the unsung towns of Canada’s industrial heartland. The result is an album that’s transporting and never loses the dry, self-deprecating humour that has endeared Woods to his audiences from the start.

"I wanted to make a simple record with songs that allow a listener to get inside of them," said Woods. "I wanted every song to be completely accessible. I don’t want to hide behind some grand artistic statement; I’m just trying to make folk songs that people will hum along and tap their foot to. I thought the title Don't Get Too Grand worked as a nice reminder to myself that simple is usually best. I heard the expression at a book reading I attended featuring author Richard Ford. He told a story about his aunt, on her death bed, saying to him, in reference to his new-found literary fame and wealth, “Richard, don’t get too grand.” He said the little phrase has helped him stay honest and forthright and I hope it’s done the same for me."

Join Donovan Woods in celebrating the release of his third album, Don't Get Too Grand, with shows in Toronto during Canadian Music Week and look for the album in stores and online on March 26th. For a full listing of Donovan Woods upcoming performances visit his website: bestsongwriterever.com
