Gunner & Smith Hit The Road For Eastern Canadian Tour Dates Starting On March 28th

For Immediate Release:

"Overall, a powerful debut from yet another band that’s bound to put Saskatoon on the musical map." - Stylus Magazine

“Gunner & Smith put forth honest roots rock with a compelling amount of grit, given a special sparkle” - Saskatoon Star Phoenix

LISTEN TO GUNNER & SMITH - 'EASE MY MIND':

(Saskatoon, SK) - It's time for Gunner & Smith to hit the road again! After spending much of 2014 on the road with almost 100 shows across Canada and the US, Saskatoon band Gunner & Smith are gearing up for their first tour of 2015 and it's going to be a solo one. Lead singer Geoff Smith will be performing as a solo Gunner & Smith, without the rest of the band, starting in Saskatoon on March 28th. See below for full tour schedule.

A lot can happen in a year. When Gunner & Smith released their first full-length album 'He Once Was a Good Man' back in February 2014, they set out to win fans one by one with multiple Canadian tours and even a few American shows. And it seems to be working. With just a little bit of hard work, plenty of determination and the help of their incredible video 'Towns', Gunner & Smith have proven themselves as a "band to watch" and have made their mark on the Canadian roots/alt-country scene.

Much of the credit for Gunner & Smith's success can be given to lead singer/man-in-charge Geoff Smith. "2014 was all about trying to get our album out to as many people, in as many places as we could," said Smith. "We are hoping to take what we've been learning from this last year and put it into our new album."

Upon the completion of the Spring 2015 Tour, Gunner & Smith will be heading to the recording studio to demo new material with plans to release a new album later this year. Until then, Gunner & Smith plan to stay on the road throughout 2015 with a mix of full-band and solo dates, including a string of tour dates in Western Canada coming up in June. Stay tuned for details!

Don't miss Gunner & Smith (solo) on tour across Eastern Canada this April. For full details, along with the most up-to-date tour schedule, please visit: gunnerandsmith.com.

VAMS Strong Sessions LIVE Concert On April 9th

For Immediate Release:

VAMS Strong Sessions LIVE Concert On April 9th The Music Says It All About Access And Ability

Featuring Vancouver musicians Chin Injeti, Jim Byrnes and highlighting the strengths and talents of artists with disabilities

(VANCOUVER, BC) – Chin Injeti and Jim Byrnes will be guest performers at the second Strong Sessions LIVE concert hosted by the Vancouver Adapted Music Society  (VAMS) and presented by LG 104.3 and SFU Woodward’s Cultural Programs next month. The uplifting, cabaret-style event will mix Vancouver-area performers in an effort to level the playing field around accessibility and disabilities.

Strong Sessions LIVE will take place on Thursday, April 9th at SFU’s Goldcorp Centre for the Arts (149 West Hastings Street, Vancouver, sfuwoodwards.ca).

Featured artists include recent Grammy-winner Injeti and Juno-winning Byrnes, roots artists Dustin Bentall and Kendel Carson, Dawn Pemberton, and members of Odds. Joining them on stage will be VAMS musicians Stanton Paradis, Jeff Standfield, Rolf Kempf, Richard Quan, and Greg ‘Spokes’ Labine. The evening will be hosted by familiar radio voices Larry Hennessey and Corrie Miller of 'LG 104.3 Mornings with Larry'.

The show celebrates The Strong Sessions CD, launched by VAMS in late 2013 to promote collaboration between artists with disabilities and independent professional musicians. The basic demos for this release were made at the VAMS wheelchair-accessible recording studio at G.F. Strong Rehab Centre before the tracks were worked on at a variety of studios including Bryan Adams’ Warehouse Studio and Fader Mountain.

“VAMS’ goal is to bring people together and in turn, make music more accessible to all. Disability is not a barrier to creativity – which this project highlights,” said VAMS co-founder and the driving force behind The Strong Sessions, Dave Symington.

Join us on Thursday, April 9th for Strong Sessions LIVE! Doors open at 6pm, and the concert begins at 7pm. Admission is $20 in advance, available online.

ABOUT VAMS | www.vams.org Vancouver Adaptive Music Society (VAMS) was co-founded in 1988 by two Vancouver musicians that happened to be quadriplegic, Sam Sullivan and Dave Symington. Sullivan, who played keyboards, and drummer Symington formed the society to overcome the barriers faced by musicians such as themselves – issues they had not come across before they became disabled as a result of sporting injuries.

Watch Video For 'Into The Night Part 1':

 For Immediate Release:

(Vancouver, BC) - Prepare to head into the night! Edmonton indie prog-rockers Revenge of the Trees are set to release their brand new EP 'Into The Night' on April 14th and will kick-off a tour of Western Canada in support of the release on March 28th in Saskatoon at The Capitol. Full tour schedule is listed below.

Combining aspects of rock, soul, and dirty blues with politically conscious lyrics, Revenge of the Trees are a beautiful swamp water mix of heart and soul. 'Into The Night' marks the 2nd release for Revenge of the Trees. Their self-titled debut EP was released in late 2013 and the hardworking, independent band has been touring relentlessly in support of the album ever since. Over the past year Revenge of the Trees have shared the stage with such acts as: Rah Rah, Paper Lions, Close Talker and Andy Shauf and were awarded the Rawlco 10K20 Project Grant. With all that touring and hard work under their belt already, Revenge of the Trees plan to stay on the road throughout 2015 to continue their steady growth in Canada’s music scene and beyond.

Revenge of the Trees recorded 'Into The Night' entirely in drummer Nich Davies' Edmonton home studio, "The Root Cellar." The music for the EP was written by lead vocalist Mikey Muscat and then arranged collaboratively with the full band. Lyrically, 'Into The Night' sees the band continue to wear their politics on their sleeve. The 5 song EP progresses through musical landscapes while questioning the values that shape our society.

“My lyrics and inspiration have almost always revolved around political and environmental issues,” says Muscat.  “It’s what I spend most of my time thinking about.”

MUSIC BC SXSW 2015 SHOWCASE // PRESENTED BY BEATROUTE MAGAZINE + WINNIECOOPER.NET

*** For Immediate Release ***

(Vancouver, BC) - Music BC Industry Association, along with BeatRoute Magazine and WinnieCooper.net are excited to announce their return to SXSW in Austin, TX. The popular annual showcase is taking place at the legendary live music institution, Maggie Mae’s, on Friday March 20th, highlighting the brightest up and coming talent from British Columbia, Canada.

MUSIC BC SXSW 2015 SHOWCASE Friday, March 20th - 8pm until late Maggie Mae’s (323 East 6th St. Austin, TX)

This year’s artists include:

Dan Mangan + Blacksmith | http://www.danmanganmusic.com Two-time JUNO Award-winner Dan Mangan has returned under a new moniker, Dan Mangan + Blacksmith. Club Meds is the fourth LP offering from Dan Mangan and the first under the new configuration. The new namesake is timely, as this album is indicative of a new beginning, of sorts. The album is influenced by subtler American-underground innovators like Blonde Redhead or Steve Reich at some points and at other moments hits emotional pay dirt reminiscent of British scene-survivors like Peter Gabriel or Radiohead.

Yukon Blonde | http://www.yukonblonde.com Yukon Blonde has earned acclaim for its hook-heavy brand of pop rock. Artistically uncompromising, Yukon Blonde has proved that they are willing to go wherever their restless artistic muse takes them. The band has been touring worldwide since 2012 and have just completed recording their third album.

Humans | http://www.dashumans.com HUMANS has established themselves through creating sounds that successfully fuse experimental electronic elements with catchy indie-pop hooks. Using a combination of synthesizers and instruments, the sound has a certain way of being unique, while not tied down to one specific genre. Their debut LP Noontide is being released this spring.

SonReal | http://www.iamsonreal.com SonReal is a JUNO Award and MMVA nominated artist whose unique approach to hip-hop has allowed him to sustain a loyal and growing domestic fan base. With a new focus on conquering the international market, SonReal is gearing up for his own “Everywhere We Go Tour” throughout the USA as well as recording his international debut album.

The Matinée | http://www.thematineemusic.com After four major Canadian tours, The Matinée have recently stepped out of the studio with their second album Call of the Wild produced by Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat, Mounties). A departure from their past work, Call of the Wild is Rock influenced with strong hooks and Dylanesque lyrics.

NEEDS | http://www.needsvancouver.com Post-Hardcore Vancouverites, NEEDS, are set to release their first full-length album this coming May on File Under: Music (Kathryn Calder, Slam Dunk, Bend Sinister). Touted as the next great Canadian punk band, their 10-song album is menacing and melodic, intelligent yet terrifying. NEEDS call on the mighty lords of angry guitar rock and kneel before fuzz and distortion... Pay heed to the gods of avarice.

THE FACEPLANTS RELEASE BRAND NEW SINGLE 'WHY' // RELEASE PARTY ON MARCH 14th @ THE ROXY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:February 17, 2015

(Vancouver, BC) - Get ready to party! Vancouver power-pop rocksters The Faceplants are excited to announce the release of their brand new single 'Why' and they've decided to celebrate with a live show! ‘Why' will be available for Pre-Order Monday, February 23rd on iTunes & Google Play and will be available for purchase and streaming Monday, March 2nd on most digital platforms including Spotify, Beats Music, Rdio, and many more. The 'Why' Release Party will be on Saturday, March 14th at The Roxy in Vancouver with special guests Halfway To Hollywood. Full show details are listed below. To get a preview of 'Why' watch the lyric video here.

When it came time to record 'Why', The Faceplants enlisted Juno nominated producer Ben Kaplan (Mother Mother, Biffy Clyro, Hedley) to help carve out the song at The Farm Studios in Vancouver. 'Why' mixes an outright island-style groove with catchy, anthemic vocals and, according to lead vocalist Dan Botch, it captures the true essence of who The Faceplants are: "Classic pop and reggae were always two of my favourite genres growing up and the serious, yet fun lyrical content matched the vibe of the track perfectly."

'Why' is the first in a series of 3 singles that The Faceplants plan to roll-out in 2015 ahead of the release of their sophomore EP in early 2016. The release of 'Why' marks the beginning of The Faceplants' official partnership with Vancouver/Los Angeles-based creative content company, Great Canadian Entertainment.

"The Faceplants are true rockstars, and we are thrilled to be representing them," said GCE director Scott Ord.  "The Faceplants have been touring relentlessly for the past year and a half, building a strong and dedicated fan base. Their self-titled debut EP in 2012 spawned the hits 'Bulletproof' and 'Last Night', the latter garnering airplay on Much Music. With the release of 'Why', The Faceplants expose themselves as masterful songwriters, creating quality and timeless pop music. There's no gimmicks; The Faceplants are the real deal."

The Faceplants were formed by songwriter/lead vocalist Dan Botch and guitarist Garrett Ward. The Vancouver-based duo had been writing and collaborating ever since they were kids, but it wasn't until 2011, when keyboardist Graham MacKinnon joined the group, that everything started to make sense. In 2012, The Faceplants teamed up with Juno Award winning producer, Tommy Mac from Hedley, to produce their self-titled debut EP.  From that, the band filmed and released the music video for 'Last Night' which has over 96,000 views to date. This introduction to The Faceplants was the beginning of a steady growth of followers locally and eventually, on a national level. It took a few more years of heavy touring and songwriting with a few small lineup changes along the way, before things were solidified in 2015 with the addition of Patty Spencer (drums) and Chris Wong (bass).

After the celebrating the release of 'Why' in Vancouver on March 14th, The Faceplants plan to hit the road, taking their high energy live show to cities all across Canada. The band will kick-off their 'Why Tour' in Vancouver on May 1st and along with making tour stops across the country, they will also be performing and speaking to middle schools and high schools with their in-depth, educational program entitled "Keeping The Fire Alive" which discusses topics such as perseverance, dedication and goal setting.

Don't miss out on your chance to see The Faceplants performing live in Vancouver on March 14th at The Roxy! For more information and all upcoming tour details, please visit: www.thefaceplantsofficial.com.
