Jesse & The Dandelions To Release New Album 'True Blue' on September 9th

Watch Exclusive Premiere of 'No Fun' Video on Exclaim! :

(Edmonton, AB) -  Edmonton-based pop band Jesse and the Dandelions are excited to announce the independent release of their 3rd full-length album True Blue on September 9th with the launch of the video for the feature track ’No Fun’. Watch the Exclusive Premiere now at Exclaim.ca. Jesse and the Dandelions will also be heading out on tour in support of True Blue, starting with an album release show in Edmonton at The Needle on September 1st. See below for full tour listings.

Jesse and the Dandelions are a 4 piece art/space pop band, led by producer/engineer Jesse Northey. The band has been active in Western Canada for the last 5 years with success on campus community radio, and great opening slots for bands like Attack In Black, Hollerado, and July Talk. Their last release A Mutual Understanding (2013) is a gem of an album, enriched with classic synth and drum machine textures that pays respect to the past, while forging their own unique path forward. With the release of their 3rd full length album True Blue on September 9th, the band is continuing down that same path musically, aiming to create a cacophonous blend of noise and meticulously layered melody and harmony but this time the production levels going up a notch.

“One of the great features about recording your own records is that both your recording skills and (hopefully) your records get better with time,” said Jessie Northey. “True Blue is a little more psychedelic and grandiose in nature. It's not unusual to hear phasers, over top of lush strings while the drums are going wild and my voice tries to squeak a melody into the spots that are left over. I wanted to see what I could get away with while riding the line of something that was still considered melodic and listenable. Hopefully people embrace more of the weirdo elements! I was often inspired by bands like MGMT,The Flaming Lips, Tame Impala, and The Beatles while creating the album and I think fans of that type music will be able to spot the influence."

Jesse and the Dandelion’s fun and playful video for ’No Fun’, the lead single from True Blue, pays homage to Jesse Northey’s figure skating past. Jesse grew up in the small town of Fernie, BC, and as a young man, he was one of the only boys in figure skating within his community and this presented some challenges.

“I was actually quite good and I won every competition that I competed in,” Jesse explains.  “That being said, there weren't many other competitors! At a certain point I started getting beat up by a bunch by other kids at school and often got called names. I couldn't quite handle the pressure and I decided to quit skating and become a musician instead because I thought it might be able to redeem me. I've dedicated my life to that ever since, but I thought it would be fitting to give an homage to my past self by putting on the ol' figure skates and giving it another go, if only just for a music video. ‘No Fun’ talks about the perils of becoming a star and works as a fitting background to my gold medal Olympic skating performance.”

Look for Jesse and the Dandelions on tour starting September 1st in support of True Blue, more tour dates will be announced soon. Please visit jesseandthedandelions.com for the most up to date tour listings. Jesse and the Dandelions' 3rd album True Blue will be available on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers/streaming services on Friday, September 9th.

Winnipeg Duo Roger Roger Heading East For Tour Dates In Ontario + Quebec

Watch 'O Rainy Day' Live Video:

(Winnipeg, MB) - Winnipeg folk/roots duo Roger Roger have had a whirlwind 2016 so far! After kicking off the year with the release of their critically acclaimed debut album Fairweather, they've been touring non-stop playing plenty of shows across Canada, including dates at Festival Du Voyageur (Winnipeg) and the Tongue On The Post Festival (Medicine Hat). And Roger Roger have no plans to slow down anytime soon! The duo is heading back on the road this summer with another tour starting on August 5th at the Live From The Rock Folk Festival in Red Rock, Ontario. See below for full tour listings.

Roger Roger is truly a family affair. Twin siblings Lucas and Madeleine Roger are both singer-songwriters who have joined forces, each playing guitar and shamelessly harmonizing all over each other's songs. The offspring of producer/engineer/musician Lloyd Peterson (who co-produced Fairweather with Roger Roger), the twins have a knack for songwriting that must have something to do with growing up in a recording studio. They each bring their expansive creativity to the project and wholeheartedly embrace their differences, fusing Madeleine's magnetic sweetness alongside Lucas' unruly charm. Together, they bring a balance of folk, roots, and rock inspired songs in a beautifully produced album that makes for a remarkable first recording.

Released on January 17th, Roger Roger's debut album Fairweather made it to the number one spot on the Earshot National Folk/Roots/Blues Chart due to the success of their first single '13 Crows'. The album was made possible through a successful Kickstarter pre-sale campaign. Following their upcoming tour dates in Ontario and Quebec, Roger Roger will be doing a Homeroutes house concert tour in November and are planning to tour the UK and Europe in early 2017. Fairweather will be released in the EU/UK this October.

Look for Roger Roger on tour this summer, starting on August 5th at the Live From The Rock Folk Festival! Roger Roger's debut album Fairweather is currently available on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers/streaming services. Please visit rogerrogermusic.com for more information and the most up to date tour listings.

"'Fairweather' has threads of that life lived so closely and continually to songs and stories, making the worn cliché of “old souls” entirely relevant to their sound together." -   The Calgary Herald

"Madeleine’s theatre background lends itself well to writing folk songs that blend elements of real life with quirky fictional characters, while Lucas gravitates towards heavier rock sounds reflecting on the human experience. But 'Fairweather' also manages to find common ground between the two and maintains a sense of cohesiveness." -  Vue Weekly

Alexandria Maillot received plenty of positive feedback from both fans and critics alike when she released 'Sunday Sara', the first single and video from Time, back in April of this year. It had been a while since she released new music, as she'd been busy crafting the sound of her new album for the past two years. Time is the follow-up to her debut EP Just Another Girl released in 2012 and it was crafted to show another side of Alexandria Maillot. The recording of Maillot's debut EP was a project spanning several years with the production for the EP taking place during the critical years of adolescence. The new album Time is a personal evolution, showing a much different side of the 23 year old artist.
