Today, indie rockers The Wilderness share the video for ‘Graveyard’, the 3rd single from their new album  Until Tomorrow which was released on August 21st.

Both the song and video for ‘Graveyard' revolve around the theme of feeling trapped in a cyclical, dead-end lifestyle, and that one day you may close your eyes and wake up 20 years later in the same exact place. The video, directed by Céline Klein and starring band members Jonas Lewis-Anthony and Liam Neale, is filmed in black and white and has an old school thriller/horror vibe to it.

Since there are parts of ‘Graveyard’ that have the infectious lightness of a pop song, the band wanted to make sure that the video hammered home the very serious, dark themes of the lyrics.

"With this video we wanted to create something that captured both the driving energy and intensity of the music, while still relating to the paranoid self-reflection of the lyrics," says Liam Neale.

Although they all currently reside in Kingston, ON, The Wilderness are a truly international band composed of a Brit, a Frenchman, two Americans, and two Canadians. Formed in 2015, the band have released plenty of music thus far, including: an album Until Tomorrow (2020), an EP Seminary Road(2018), and five singles  - 'Pick You Up' (2020), 'Virginia Sapphire' (2019), 'Fall (Despite What You Do)' (2019), 'Dancing In The Dive Bars' (2018), and 'Hurry Up And Wait' (2018).

The Wilderness - Until Tomorrow is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit: thewildernessband.com

Vancouver Musician Syd Carter West Releases Powerful New Single CHEATERS

Syd Carter West has had an unusual route to become the Americana/Southern-rock artist she is today. From award-winning opera singer to original singer-songwriter of her own dirt and dust, West has finally found her path.

This Canadian singer-songwriter grew up in British Columbia and, after hearing the gritty, soulful sound of Amanda Marshall when she was five years old, she knew she wanted to be a singer. By 12 she was training in opera and studying music theory at the Royal Conservatory of Music, competed nationally, and was awarded the much-lauded Gold Medal (formerly Silver). At 20, West moved beyond performing opera and began to write original lyrics and compositions.

“‘Cheaters’, the debut single from Syd Carter West’s forthcoming self-titled EP, is powerful beyond measure. The track was written about West's personal experience of being cheated on in a past relationship and how she was able to gain the confidence to end the relationship for good.

“Instead of admitting that he cheated, he said he was raped,” says West. “Later on, he recanted and admitted that he said ‘rape’ to cover up his cheating. He manipulated an incredibly traumatizing experience in an effort to cover his ass. This song is how angry, sad and fucked up I was from that experience. This is my closure. This is my middle finger. Somehow, someway, he’s going to hear this song. And he will know it’s about him.”

'Cheaters' is proof positive that the bright-eyed, roots ‘n’ soul singer-songwriter is the real deal. With a set of pipes that “feels” - she can belt it out and pull it back in - West’s powerful vocals are reminiscent of Elle King, with a dash of Melissa Etheridge’s growl and the soul of Adele. Her earlier influences range from country chanteuse Deana Carter to the electric blues rock of Led Zeppelin.

Syd Carter West’s new single ‘Cheaters’ is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services. For more information, please visit: sydcarterwest.com

Singer-Songwriter Lauren Mann Releases New Single DEAR FOREVER

2nd Single From New Album

Lauren Mann · Dear Forever

Singer-songwriter Lauren Mann is excited to announce to release of 'Dear Forever', the 2nd single from her new album Memory & Desire which will be out on October 16th.

A hopeful song about the tough times in a relationship, ‘Dear Forever’, explores the idea of trying to find your way back to the spark that ignited everything at the beginning.

“'Dear Forever' was written with my producer Josh Rob Gwilliam on an old piano in the studio garage where I recorded my last album," says Lauren Mann. "It’s a song for those moments in a relationship when you start asking questions and wondering if the future really is forever. We wrote it a few years before my own marriage ended, so in a way it was a bit of a foreshadowing, but it also holds hope that love will be found in one way or another after all is said and done.”

Following the release of her 2016 album Dearestly, Memory & Desire reveals a maturity in the evolution of Lauren’s songwriting and musicality. Influenced by the tapestry of music on the Gulf Islands in British Columbia where she has put down her roots for the last five years, Lauren has stayed true to her alt-pop sensibilities while exploring jazzy vocal riffs and bluesy guitar lines. Her oft typecast ukulele has been replaced with a tenor guitar, shifting her sound to something reminiscent of Beth Orton or Carole King.

Lauren Mann's new single ‘Dear Forever’ is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit: laurenmannmusic.com

If the pandemic has brought on feelings of nostalgia and the need for a sweet pop song with a bit of sting, Vancouver musician Quinn Pickering's new track 'Grapefruit' is just what you're looking for! Out today, 'Grapefruit' is the 1st single from Quinn's new EP Supernova set for release on November 13th via producer Howard Redekopp's new record label How Weird Sounds.

Full of nostalgic, melancholic longing, ‘Grapefruit’ explores the feeling of trying to shake special memories that over time have turned bittersweet.

“The song is about how memories and emotions can be triggered in the most unexpected of ways,” says Quinn Pickering. “The song had lived in my head for a few years until the faint scent of Grapefruit Rose stepped in and gave me the necessary inspiration to finish the song and close the book on that chapter of my life.”

Quinn Pickering is a young singer-songwriter leading a new generation of artists who are redefining the indie music landscape. At 20, he has spent over half his life playing guitar, writing songs, and releasing albums. Raised in New Westminster, BC, to a musical family of Métis descent, his interest and passion for music and songwriting led to the formation of his first band, World Is History, when he was just nine years old.

Earlier this year, Quinn signed with How Weird Sounds to release Supernova, a five song EP executive produced by Howard Redekopp and produced, mixed and engineered by Stefan Nowarre. Set for release on November 13th, Supernova showcases Quinn's youthful energy and love of classic songwriting, and puts his voice at the centre of it all. Quinn has shown a remarkable gift for connecting with audiences through his songs, and at just twenty years old, there's no telling how much more he's capable of.

‘Grapefruit’ is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit: quinnpickering.org
