‘All The Things' is the 4th single to be released from Carolina East’s new album Soaked in Whisky, which will be out in May 2021. A song about a failed relationship, 'All The Things’ examines the loss you feel for everything that will never happen because of a break-up.

"'All The Things’ is about all of what could have been with a past partner," says Carolina. "I wrote this song about a relationship that didn’t work out, and for the best."

A creation of the maritime elements, Carolina East is a vibrant, bold, songstress from Newfoundland and Labrador, who proudly wears an eclectic tapestry of musical influences, from soul to country, to pop. This year, Carolina East won the MusicNL Country Artist of the Year award, received a nomination for ECMA Indigenous Artist of the Year, and she recently joined the Sirius XM Top of the Country competition as one of eight competing semi-finalists.

1ST SINGLE FROM NEW ALBUM OUT IN MAY 2021

If you need a pick me up, Calgary country roots group The Blake Reid Band will put a smile on your face and leave you with positive vibes aplenty on their new single 'Penny', out today on all digital platforms. Watch video here.

‘Penny’ is the 1st single from The Blake Reid Band’s new album Another Way Home set for release in May 2021. The follow-up to Reid’s 2015 solo album Rust, Another Way Home finds the Calgary-based singer/songwriter boldly crafting a new Americana-focused sound with his most trusted collaborators, resulting in a blend of roof-raising anthems and heart-wrenching ballads. ‘Penny’ is the perfect summation of Reid’s new direction - authentic Americana set against a modern approach to classic bluegrass and gospel themes.

“‘Penny' is about silencing the world and finding a way to be lost in a single moment,” says Blake Reid. "To navigate life’s storms sometimes, we need to crack a bottle of wine, gather good friends, and completely open our hearts. I’ve learned that the moments when love trumps money are the ones that I hold on to. When your heart leads, pennies are insignificant.”

After basic tracks were laid down at Nashville’s Sound Emporium with producer Aben Eubanks (Kelly Clarkson) and some of Music City’s finest players, Another Way Home was polished off in Calgary with the full Blake Reid Band line-up displaying their dynamic chemistry forged during a solid year of touring.

Reid says, “As this is the debut album for the Blake Reid Band, the idea for the album’s direction, writing and song selection was to return to our roots. We chose to title the album Another Way Home, because it’s really about that—finding a different route to our centre, both personally and musically.”

The Blake Reid Band's new album is actually the continuation of the No Roads In documentary project, directed by Josh Wong and released in 2017 to International acclaim. Based on the simple premise of capturing the band over a week of recording at an abandoned house in the middle of a thousand acres of prairie wheat fields, the film is a moving exploration of the creative process, and a celebration of the pure thrill that comes from making music with close friends. Another Way Home includes six songs also featured in No Roads In, re-recorded in the studio, but with the same intention.

Blake Reid Band's new single ‘Penny’ is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit:

Quinn Pickering Celebrates Release Of SUPERNOVA EP With Video For New Single + Title Track

It might be Friday the 13th, but Vancouver musician Quinn Pickering isn't the superstitious type. In fact, not only is he releasing his new Supernova EP today, he's also premiering the video for the 3rd single and title track. Watch the 'Supernova' video here.

Quinn's Supernova EP is full of dreamy, melancholic vibes with plenty of nostalgia and ghosts of past relationships. While his previous singles 'Ultraviolet' and 'Grapefruit' examined the end of a relationship, his new single 'Supernova' focuses on a new relationship and the feeling of wanting to be someone's first choice.

“'Supernova' on the surface may feel like a pop song about a relationship but when you peel back the layers, you'll find that it explores uncertainty and fear that your partner might not have the same depth of feeling," says Quinn. "It's about how you can project those thoughts and emotions to the point that they manifest themselves into reality, threatening the very thing that you're trying to hold on to.”

At just 20 years old, Quinn is a young singer-songwriter leading a new generation of artists who are redefining the indie music landscape. Raised in New Westminster, BC, to a musical family of Métis descent, Quinn's interest and passion for music and songwriting led to the formation of his first band, World Is History, when he was just nine years old.

When he started working on his Supernova EP, Quinn wrote and recorded 15 pre-production demos before choosing the 5 songs that ended up on the EP. Executive produced by Howard Redekopp and produced, mixed and engineered by Stefan Nowarre, Supernova showcases Quinn's youthful energy and love of classic songwriting, and puts his voice at the centre of it all.

“Although there are some big choruses throughout, it’s the intimate moments in contrast that represent what I wanted the EP to feel like," says Quinn. "Thematically it’s full of stories and vulnerabilities that I've experienced in my life up till now told through the lens of an Alt pop production.”

Quinn Pickering's Supernova EP is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit: quinnpickering.org

WORD ON THE STREET:
"On the deliciously nostalgic 'Grapefruit,' Pickering's Jeff Buckley-influenced vocal desperation meets Dashboard Confessional chords, setting the scene for your perfectly angsty beach-combing reflections (or a lost montage moment from MTV's Laguna Beach).” - CBC Music

"In one of the most polished tracks I’ve heard this year, 'Grapefruit' takes to the city streets to reminisce and recover.”  - The Permanent Rain Press

'"Ultraviolet' lends a groovy, empathetic voice to all the suppressed emotions that comes with seeing the end of a romance. Layered with smooth riffs, Ultraviolet' feels like a warm tap in the back reassuring you that it will pass." - Aupium

"20 year old Vancouver indie pop artist Quinn Pickering is here to help you relive those fleeting, bittersweet memories of someone that left your pre-adult heart in shambles just before Frosh Week and after deciding to go to a different university – or whatever your story is – with his new song 'Grapefruit'. It’s got the power-pop punch of Shawn Mendes and I even sense of a hint of Rob Thomas
circa 2006." - Dusty Organ

The Barrel Boys Release Video For New Single UPGRADED LOVE

WATCH/SHARE LIVE VIDEO HERE

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Toronto bluegrass powerhouse The Barrel Boys were unable to tour in support of their new album Mainline when it came out in September but they're trying to make up for it with the release of a live video for their latest single 'Upgraded Love'.

‘Upgraded Love’ is the 3rd single to be released from The Barrel Boys’ 4th album Mainline. A heartbreaker of a song, 'Upgraded Love' was written by the band's banjo player Rob McLaren who got the idea for the song from a friend.

"A friend of mine went through a breakup a few years ago that left him feeling unsure whether he wanted to continue with where he was living and working," says Rob.  "However, in a short time he had started a new job, met someone new, and bought a house. It's a happy story, but makes for a sad song, as told from the opposite perspective."

Produced by Canadian mandolin icon and decorated engineer/producer Andrew Collins, Mainline is jam-packed with new original material penned by each of the band’s five members. With this project, the band digs deeper into the sounds of traditional bluegrass, classic country, folk, and new acoustic music while also exploring classic tropes of bluegrass (including trains, heartbreak, mining, and murder), grounding those themes in a distinctly Canadian context and bringing their own experiences into the stories.

Since the release of their debut album, Early On, in 2014, The Barrel Boys have endeared themselves to folk and bluegrass audiences across Canada, honing their craft through a long-running weekly residency at Toronto’s Cloak and Dagger Pub. Notable performances include: Mariposa Folk Festival (ON), Folk Fest sur le Canal (QC), and Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old-Tyme Music Festival (SK).

The Barrel Boys' new album Mainline is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services. For more information, please visit: thebarrelboys.com

Vancouver Musician Syd Carter West Premieres Video For Her Latest Single CHEATERS

Vancouver musician Syd Carter West solved the problem of how to film a music video during a pandemic by making the safe choice to film it outdoors.

In early October, West, along with a small cast and crew, travelled to Golden Ears Provincial Park to film the video for her latest single ‘Cheaters’, a song that was written about her personal experience of being cheated on in a past relationship and how she was able to gain the confidence to end the relationship for good.

“The video for my tune ‘Cheaters' portrays a wicked bonfire setting where a mysterious ghost who died from a broken heart, helps a young woman come to the realization that the relationship she has with herself is more important than the love she has from her cheating partner," says West.

'Cheaters’ is the first single from Syd Carter West’s self-titled debut EP (released last month) and is proof positive that the bright-eyed, roots ‘n’ soul singer-songwriter is the real deal. With a set of pipes that “feels” - she can belt it out and pull it back in - West’s powerful vocals are reminiscent of Elle King, with a dash of Melissa Etheridge’s growl and the soul of Adele. Her earlier influences range from country chanteuse Deana Carter to the electric blues rock of Led Zeppelin.

Syd Carter West is currently working on new music with Vancouver-based producer John Ellis and will be releasing a new single from those sessions soon.

Syd Carter West’s new EP is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services. For more information, please visit: sydcarterwest.com
