LATEST SINGLE FROM DEBUT ALBUM
GNARNIA OUT ON MAY 6th

WATCH/SHARE VIDEO HERE

West Coast funk rock band Gnarfunkel are celebrating 4/20 with the release of their new single and video 'Bamboo Bong' out today on all digital streaming platforms. Watch video here.

’Bamboo Bong’ is the latest track to be released from Gnarfunkel’s debut album Gnarnia, which is out on May 6th. The perfect song for coming out of the pandemic, 'Bamboo Bong' celebrates those times that we need to escape from the turmoil around us.

"Living in the modern world can be overwhelming," says vocalist/guitarist Tyler Lanigan. "Luckily for us, a new form of escapism has recently been legalized in Canada. Through its chaotic intro, funky verses and bridge combining anxious instrumentals with clips of Reefer Madness, 'Bamboo Bong' explores the dichotomy of being high combined with the residual stigma for the soul-destroying reefer."

Gnarfunkel's debut album Gnarnia was conceived and recorded as a lockdown project when it became clear in early 2020 that they would not be playing live shows for a while.

"We looked inwards and decided to assemble the debut record we had always dreamed of making," says Tyler. "It was a vinyl album from the very beginning, with each side and track listing planned long before any recording began. All the songs on the album had been sufficiently road tested to audiences across the beautiful province of British Columbia and went through an intense rewriting process that lasted a year."

Armed with a plan and a bunch of songs, the band then recorded the album at Monarch Studios with Juno-nominated producer Tom Dobrzanski. Gnarnia is the passion project of a group well known for energetic live shows that was confined to a makeshift basement recording studio for a year. It contains the bottled up energy of a band that can't wait to hit the road again!

'Bamboo Bong' is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more info, please visit gnarfunkel.com.

Kaeley Jade · Ego

Edmonton-based Métis artist Kaeley Jade is back with another indie pop gem! Her powerful new single 'Ego' is out today on all digital platforms. Listen here.

Produced by the JUNO-nominated team at Velveteen Music, Kaeley's latest single, ‘Ego’, is a compelling examination of the ways in which unhealthy relationships can affect our emotional well-being. Reminiscent of artists like Maggie Rogers and Olivia Rodrigo, ‘Ego’ is a raw and affecting anthem for those struggling to heal.

“I wrote ‘Ego’ after a particularly rough night at a party, and I wanted to explore how toxic relationships can impact our mental health,” says Kaeley. “This one goes out to all those struggling to find closure.”

A vibrant presence with a voice like velvet, singer-songwriter Kaeley Jade weaves lush imagery and hooky melodic lines to craft music that is both poignant and playful. Kaeley’s music has received radio play across North America with her previous single 'Painless' (released April 2021) climbing to the #1 spot on the Indigenous Music Countdown. She's been featured on editorial playlists across streaming platforms, including New Music Friday and Fresh Finds on Spotify and Indigenous Now on Apple Music, and in numerous publications such as Tinnitist, SAY Magazine and The GATE.

Kaeley Jade's new single ‘Ego’ is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more info, please visit kaeleyjade.com.

Vancouver duo The Blue And Gold are following up their acclaimed track 'Honey In The Rock' (released on March 4th) with new single ‘When The Levee Breaks’ out today on all digital streaming services. Listen here.

'When The Levee Breaks' is the 2nd single from The Blue And Gold’s self-titled debut album, which is set for release on April 29th. The song is a reinterpretation of the country blues classic first recorded by Memphis Minnie in 1929.

"Born in 1897 in Algiers, Louisiana, Memphis Minnie was one of the earliest blues guitarists on recording and one of the most prolific musicians of her era," says guitarist Trish Klein. "She wrote and recorded over 200 songs, and was an intricate guitarist and innovator—her up-the-neck guitar solos are considered visionary and ahead of their time. Her songs have been covered by the likes of Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane, Fleetwood Mac, Taj Mahal, Muddy Waters, Alabama Shakes and many others. Her impact on the evolution of Blues music cannot be overstated. We are honoured to be releasing a version of her classic song 'When The Levee Breaks’."

The Blue And Gold is a musical collaboration between Juno nominated and WCMA 'Blues Artist Of The Year’ Ndidi O and folk-roots guitarist/banjo player Trish Klein (The Be Good Tanyas, Frazey Ford, Po’ Girl) which celebrates the musical artistry and legacy of pioneering female blues musicians.

The duo's self-titled debut album is a musical homage to the profound influence of Black female artists on 20th century country / blues traditions and on the evolution of all modern music. The album contains 11 songs recorded with authenticity, soulfulness and grit, including reinterpretations of the works of pioneering female artists Memphis Minnie, Lottie Kimbrough, Mamie Forehand, Jessie Mae Hemphill, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and others, as well as one song by the legendary Indigenous songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie.

’When The Levee Breaks’ will be available on April 1st on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide.

BC Singer-Songwriter WiL Announces Release Of New Album

FIRST SINGLE ‘I’M SORRY’ OUT NOW
STREAM/SHARE
HERE

Ibreakstrings · I'm Sorry

A 51-year-old songwriter cannot go that long without having something to say and someone to say it to. And BC musician WiL definitely has something to say on his sixth studio album titled The Gold Mine, which is set for release on May 13th. And anyone who has been in a relationship for any length of time may want to have a listen.

‘I’m Sorry’, the first single from The Gold Mine, is out today on all digital streaming platforms. Though WiL is known for his mad acoustic guitar skills, 'I’m Sorry’ is driven instead by the piano, bringing an authentic and beautiful sparseness to the sweet apologetic love song.

"I think in any relationship, being lovers, best friends or both, you say things you just don't mean," says WiL. "We all get complacent or cranky at times. It's human nature to have bad moments, or days… the important thing is to know how and when to say I'm Sorry."

While WiL’s catalogue grows, his music has become the soundtrack for many. Countless fans have chosen ‘Oak Tree’ as their wedding dance, partied to ‘Both Hands’ holding a wine bottle and sung ‘Roam' while hiking far away snow-capped peaks. With this new album, perhaps they’ll find a new nugget of gold to add to their music playlists.

'I'm Sorry' is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more info, please visit ibreakstrings.com.

Vancouver Indie Rockers Bealby Point Announce New EP + Release 1st Single

‘SAY IT ANYWAY’
HERE

Bealby Point · Say It Anyway

Vancouver indie rockers Bealby Point are back with a brand new single, 'Say It Anyway', out now on all digital streaming platforms. Listen here.

‘Say It Anyway’ is the first single from Bealby Point’s sophomore EP Fridays, which is set for release this summer. Leaning hard into influences like The Strokes, Bealby Point give us a fresh take on those songs you miss from the early aughts with their new track.

"'Say It Anyway' is a song where the theme is revealed through the chorus,” says lead vocalist Jack Armstrong. "The verses and pre choruses are melancholic and reference over contemplated thoughts. When the chorus comes around, these thoughts are dismissed and overpowered by an attitude shift culminating in the prose 'I don’t really care about this. Like anyone, I’m trying my best.’"

Drawing influence from various genres across the board, Bealby Point describe themselves as "a cross between The Strokes and Eagles with a splash of Bahamas… on the rocks, no ice." After releasing their debut EP in 2021, the boys are now ramping up for the release of their sophomore EP, recorded with veteran producer Matt Di Pomponio at the world-renowned recording studio, Hipposonic Studio.

'Say It Anyway' is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide.
