Toronto Indie Folk Group The Couriers Share New Single SMOOTH SKIN

Stream/Share HERE

Toronto indie folk group The Couriers share their tender new single “Smooth Skin,” out now on all digital streaming platforms. Lifted from the band’s self-titled debut album, the acoustic-leaning track introduces listeners to the heart of The Couriers’ sound – warm guitar lines, beautifully stacked harmonies, and an intimate, unguarded approach to songwriting.

Gentle and quietly romantic, “Smooth Skin” unfolds as a soft reflection on love lost and connections that never quite had the chance to become what they might have been. Driven by finger-picked acoustic guitar and hushed dynamics, the song’s emotional pull lies in its restraint, allowing the band’s harmonies to carry the weight of its longing and nostalgia.

“Interestingly enough, ‘Smooth Skin’ was inspired by a quote from a video game character that mistakenly thought he was a ghoul – 'Bald? You call this bald, smooth skin? I’m a monster! A monster!’” explains vocalist and guitarist Stephen Edwards. “Once the title was cemented, the song quickly evolved into a story about a love interest lost to time.”

The track also holds special meaning for the band. As Edwards shares, “This was the first ever song written to be played by The Couriers. Hence, it seemed fitting that it should appear as the first track on our debut album.”

Comprised of Stephen Edwards (guitar and vocals), Mateja Lasan (drums), and Bronson Aguiar (bass), The Couriers draw on a decade-long creative partnership to craft songs that feel both understated and deeply personal. With “Smooth Skin,” the trio offers a quietly captivating introduction to their self-titled debut – a song built on sincerity, subtlety, and the kind of harmonies that linger long after the final chord fades.

"Smooth Skin" is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit instagram.com/thecouriersband.

Victoria-Based Alt-Indie Rockers Blush. Share New Single + Video SEASONS

Watch/Share Video HERE

Victoria-based alt-indie rock band Blush. return with “Seasons,” a dreamy, 90s-influenced single and video that drifts between hazy nostalgia and quiet introspection. The track marks the first glimpse of the band’s forthcoming EP In The Grey, due out May 1.

Built on airy guitars, laid-back rhythms, and a warm, lo-fi glow, “Seasons” captures Blush. at their most relaxed and reflective. The song unfolds patiently, favouring atmosphere over urgency, and leans into the band’s love of shoegaze textures and melodic restraint. Equal parts chill and immersive, it feels like a memory replaying itself – familiar, comforting, and slightly out of reach.

The accompanying video mirrors the song’s dream-like quality, unfolding in soft focus and muted tones. With its washed-out visuals and unhurried pace, the video feels less like a narrative and more like a feeling – fleeting moments stitched together, as if caught between waking and sleep.

“‘Seasons’ feels like a dream that just keeps looping,” says lead vocalist and guitarist Anton Wilson. “I think this song speaks pretty strongly to our roots as a band. It reminds me of picnic jam sessions in the park, it reminds me to take a breath, and it reminds me to never stop chasing.”

Based in Victoria, BC, and inspired by a wide range of shoegaze, 90s rock, and folk music, Blush. are an alt-indie rock band built on crunchy textures, haunting electronics, and atmospheric melodies. Following the early days release of their 2024 EP Still Wet, the band continues to refine their sound on In The Grey, their new EP arriving this spring, which captures the band at both their loudest and most restrained.

"Seasons" is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit whereisblush.com.

Vancouver Indie Folk-Rock Trio Myles from Home Share New Single YOU'RE GONNA GO FAR

Stream/Share HERE

Vancouver indie folk-rock group Myles from Home return with their moving new single “You’re Gonna Go Far,” out now on all digital streaming platforms. Rooted in memory, gratitude, and the electric rush of childhood possibility, the emotionally charged track marks the band’s third release of the year, following September’s reflective single “I Remember” and February’s groove-driven “Almost Everything”.

Anchored by frontman Myles Hildebrand’s warm vocals and the band’s signature fusion of folk-rock, funk, and jazz-tinged textures, “You’re Gonna Go Far” shines as one of their most personal songs to date. Both intimate and expansive, the track swells with nostalgic warmth while pulsing with the trio’s trademark rhythmic inventiveness.

“This song is about my Dad, and a moment from my childhood that I’ll remember for the rest of my life,” says Hildebrand. “It’s about feeling like you have the world at your feet. This moment kept coming back up, and since my Dad is my number one fan, I felt very inspired to turn the memory of that moment into a song. Every time we play it live, I’m emotional and the crowd is too.”

Known for genre-defying songwriting and immersive, high-energy performances, Myles from Home has carved out a dedicated following across Canada and beyond. Critics have praised their eclectic sound and inventive approach: Honk Magazine spotlighted their “refusal to stick to one genre,” while Lost in the Manor (UK) described their productions as “quirky, funny, and filled with clean electric guitars that impress with their ability to fill the room with sound.” Their singles have earned attention from dozens of international outlets, with reviewers calling their music “playful, uplifting and relatable,” “quietly confident,” and “an introspective yet euphoric slice of indie rock.”

With nearly 50 shows under their belt, and over 140K streams across platforms, the trio has built a reputation for pushing indie music into unexpected spaces – from Mario Kart–style video shoots to canoe performances at Kits Beach. As Do604 wrote following their hometown album celebration: “It wasn’t just a concert; it was a celebration of community, artistry, and the joy of sharing music together.”

“You’re Gonna Go Far” is the latest step in a year of creative momentum for the band as they continue shaping what modern Canadian indie can sound like: tender, adventurous, deeply human, and unafraid to experiment with sound – fusing genres in ways that feel both fresh and familiar.

"You're Gonna Go Far" is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For tour dates and more information, please visit mylesfromhome.com.

Ontario Duo Asthma Kids Release New Single + Video CRUMBS AND MORSELS

Watch/Share Video HERE

The revolution is here! Ontario genre-agnostic duo Asthma Kids return with their explosive new single "Crumbs and Morsels (The Meek Are Getting Ready Pt IV)," out now alongside the dystopian, visually arresting video from director Lisa Battocchio. The track is the latest preview of their upcoming EP The Meek Are Getting Ready, out December 1 via Dammit Distribution (EU/UK) and 2 Bar Town Records (North America).

Recorded in just three hours at The Reverie Recording Studio (Cavan-Monahagn, ON), “Crumbs and Morsels (...Pt IV)” captures the band at their most urgent and unfiltered. The track was mastered by Alex Wharton at Abbey Road Studios in London – a full-circle moment that frontman Trevor Hutchinson calls “a bucket-list thing.”

Built on a raw, propulsive energy, the song is an unvarnished critique of wealth inequality, class division, and “the psychopathic imbalance of power” embedded in late-stage capitalism.

“The powers that be, the billionaires and their multi-millionaire minions, designed this whole thing,” says Hutchinson. “It’s in the uber-elite’s interest for us to fight each other, and they enjoy watching it. That type of grotesque wealth and all the human misery it creates can only be described as psychopathic. ‘Crumbs and Morsels’ is me trying to explore that… while reminding myself that the revolution will still encourage dancing.”

The accompanying music video marks Asthma Kids’ second collaboration with Battocchio, who previously directed their video for "Die On This Hill (...Pt II),"  which is nearing 85K YouTube views. Bringing her background in international film – originally from Italy, trained in China, now based in Canada – Battocchio creates a vivid, cinematic world that heightens both the urgency of the song and its rallying cry for unity. Featuring performer Lorenza Tessaro and filmed on the streets of downtown Toronto, the video embraces a raw, punk aesthetic: run-and-gun shots, hand-built masks, and a small but fearless crew bringing its chaotic vision to life.

“I look at videos as getting my song to be the soundtrack of someone else’s movie,” Hutchinson explains. “But what she did was magical. Her sense of lighting and mood is unreal. I’m so lucky I got to work with her.”

Based in Lindsay, ON, and formed by Hutchinson (Big Eddy, Trailer Park 5, Pardon Beggars) and JP Gill, Asthma Kids operate entirely outside genre lines – or as they put it, they’re “genre-atheists.”

“We leave labels for soup cans,” Hutchinson jokes. “We want three chords and the truth. Punk, freak-country, confessional post-pop... whatever. I need more diversity, not less, in music and in the world.”

Their catalogue ranges from alien-themed alt-country to angry power-pop to punchy punk-leaning missives. Their comedy track "Alien Love" has close to 50K YouTube views, and they’ve twice been semi-finalists in the International Songwriting Competition – in both the Americana and Comedy categories.

"Crumbs and Morsels (...Pt IV)" shows Asthma Kids at full force, turning music into message, message into movement. It’s their ethos sharpened into one point: a manifesto meant to rally, provoke, and pull people into the revolution.

Asthma Kids will host a video release and pre-launch listening party for the new video and upcoming EP on November 22 at LOLA in Toronto. Get full details here.

"Crumbs and Morsels (...Pt IV)" is available now on digital streaming platforms worldwide. For more information, please visit asthmakidsband.com.

Toronto's 5 Neat Guys Ring In The Holidays With New Album PLAY CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!

Stream/Share "Silent Night" HERE

Toronto-based blues/rock band 5 Neat Guys are turning up the festive spirit with the release of their brand-new holiday album PLAY CHRISTMAS MUSIC!! available now on all digital streaming platforms. The band is also celebrating the launch with a feature single, a riotous, vintage-flavoured rendition of the holiday standard "Silent Night".

"Don’t be fooled by the name: there’s nothing silent about this version of the Christmas classic," says rhythm guitarist Doug Hibovski. "We gave it a vintage rock-n-roll feel, but you can still sing along to it. Sheer fun, tailor-made for a rockin’ Christmas party."

PLAY CHRISTMAS MUSIC!! marks the band’s fifth studio album and their second Christmas release, rounding out nearly a year of recording that began with drum sessions in November 2024 and wrapped on a warm August evening with the final backing vocals. To give the album its unmistakable holiday atmosphere, the band even hauled a full set of tubular bells into the studio – one of many touches that infuse the record with charm and festive nostalgia.

"We really wanted to give something for everyone in this album," says lead vocalist Ed Lounsbury. “Some blues, some pop/rock, some sentimental heartstring-tuggers, and then some traditional Christmas chestnuts that we put a fresh new spin on. This album is good clean fun, and we pictured families decorating the Christmas tree, dancing around and playing this in the background.”

The idea for the album was sparked a few years ago, when the band performed a pre-Christmas gig with only a handful of seasonal songs in their set. They filled the gaps with their usual rock and blues repertoire, until an event organizer slipped them a note that read, with unmistakable urgency: “PLAY CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!” The phrase became an instant inside joke, then a rallying cry, and finally the perfect title for their second holiday record. And as always with 5 Neat Guys, humour finds its way into the music itself: on "Unwrap You At Christmas," an improvised mouth-trumpet solo – intended as a simple placeholder – made the final cut because it sounded so hilariously perfect.

Formed in 2016 by guitarist Doug Hibovski, 5 Neat Guys began as a temporary project bringing together four adult students from Hibovski’s Toronto music school. Something clicked, and what started as a one-off experiment evolved into a beloved bar band known for their classic vintage blues and rock ’n’ roll sound, high-energy performances, and good-humoured approach to music-making. Over the years, they’ve become fixtures at local festivals, community street parties, and pubs, earning a loyal following and radio support on both local and online stations. With every release, the group has sharpened its style and production – and with PLAY CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!, they deliver their most spirited, family-friendly collection yet.

PLAY CHRISTMAS MUSIC!! is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit 5neatguys.com.
