Edmonton Electro-Pop Musician Robin Cisek Releases New Single + Video ZEUS

Edmonton-based Métis electro-pop musician Robin Cisek is excited to announce the release of her new single and video 'Zeus', which is out now on all digital streaming platforms. Watch the video here.

Produced by JUNO-Award winning producers Brad Simons and Brandon Unis, ’Zeus’ is Robin's first release since her acclaimed debut album Delicate Minds in June 2021.

“I wanted to create an upbeat song with building vocals and stacked harmonies that took my listeners to another world,” says Robin. “I have always enjoyed reading and watching stories from history and the stories about the Greek gods, particularly the ones about Zeus, have always been very interesting to me. Zeus, a Greek god, who many have heard about through story, is not a consistently moral individual through his relationships and violent choices, but he is still idealized for his strength, power and representation of masculinity and he is worshipped for that. I wanted to playfully point out how his immorality is simultaneous but contradictory to his intrigue and godliness to the public as a powerful figure. I wanted to make a connection between relationships and how these contradictions can often create dangerous, harmful, and addictive relationships.”

Robin Cisek emerged into her music career after years of struggles with health problems. Robin’s inspiration comes from her experiences and her Indigenous heritage, which takes form in her music through concepts, alternative beats, and lyrics.

Robin released her first commercial song with the guidance of Grammy-Award winning mixers and producers in NYC. Since her first song release, Robin has been on the Indigenous Music Countdown top 10 a total of four times. Robin’s single, “Waiting on You” claimed the #1 spot on the IMC (May 2019) and remained on the top 40 for 24 weeks consecutively.

On her debut album Delicate Minds, released in 2021, Robin created a cohesive project comprising 6 songs that discuss the emotional aspects of mental health. After the release of her album, her career has been on an upward momentum. At the end of 2021, Robin was named the winner of the C-Tribe Music Verse competition (October 2021) and chosen as an AFA featured artist (September 2021). In 2022, she was named 1 of 7 Indigenous artists in Canada to take part in the Indigenous Music Accelerator program, and was one of 10 artists to participate in the Indigenous Women in Music residency.

'Zeus' is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more information, please visit robincisekmusic.com.

Just in time for summer, pop duo the Lockyer Boys are back with a brand new single and video 'LATKD' out now on all digital streaming platforms. Watch video here.

Written virtually during the COVID pandemic with Grammy-nominated producer Jeff Dawson and Alan Poettcker from These Kids Wear Crowns, 'LATKD' is a catchy and uplifting pop gem about being present and living in the moment, and trying to experience genuine happiness.

“Will and I try to make people happy with our music,” says Charlie Lockyer. “Teenagers and maybe even young adults are often ‘happy being sad’. Why can’t we be happy being happy? That’s the message of ‘LATKD.’"

Lockyer Boys (Will and Charlie Lockyer) are brothers born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The duo made their first steps as a cover band, quickly gaining recognition for great harmonies and multi-instrumental talent.

Entertaining crowds with stage presence far beyond their years made them an immediate showstopper as the opening act at many festivals and concerts. They have played alongside countless accomplished artists such as Juno-Award winning Eagle & Hawk, Coney Hatch, Chase The Bear, and more.

Lockyer Boys are currently completing their debut album, which features their poignant songwriting and songs co-written with Jeff Dawson, Shawn Hook, Scott Helman, Daniel Powter, Brian Howes, Alan Poettcker, and Akylla.

‘LATKD’ is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more info, please visit lockyerboys.com.

Danny Bell and His Disappointments Release New Single + Video KILLING BIRDS

1ST SINGLE + TITLE TRACK
FROM NEW EP OUT ON JUNE 2nd

BC indie folk group Danny Bell and His Disappointments are back with their regional flavoured accordion-led folk/country/punk tunes! Their new single and video 'Killing Birds' is out today on all digital streaming platforms. Listen here.

'Killing Birds’ is the first single and title track from Danny Bell and His Disappointments’ new EP set for release on June 2nd.

The video was filmed on Treaty 8 and Lheidli T’enneh Territory at a dance studio in Prince George and an abandoned sawmill just outside of Mackenzie, BC. The mill is the setting and inspiration for the song itself. Shot by Adam Harasimiuk of Frost Films, the video follows the imagination of a mill caretaker with time on their hands.

"Based on a true story, 'Killing Birds' explores the daily life of a caretaker for an abandoned sawmill," says Danny. "The song guesses at the workers identity based on the things he leaves behind after his shifts at the mill. The song was inspired by exercise equipment, a blowup mattress, a set of golf clubs, BB guns, and a sign out front that says 'Honk 4 Help.’”

Danny Bell's music is regional. It’s steeped in his affection for his home in the hinterland, a blue collar town, the stink of the pulp mill, and everyday life in Northern BC. Bell’s songs toe the line between tragedy and comedy.

Danny Bell and His Disappointments released their second album, Songs For The Town, in December 2020. Exclaim! magazine called the album an “anti-capitalist, anti-elitist, anti-asshole folk record for small moments in small places… Songs For The Town is an insular record made for a particular place and particular people, but it speaks to something more; it speaks on where we come from, what makes a home, work, friends and lonely dogs.”

The band’s newest release, titled Killing Birds, was mostly recorded in the foreman’s office in an abandoned sawmill just outside of Mackenzie, BC. The EP's songs are reactions to a change in pace and identity during the pandemic. Going from performance and travel to the slow pace and isolation of a part-time security job brought a new perspective. The EP features lap steel by Liam McIvor along with collaborations from fellow northern BC artists Folky Strum Strum and Saltwater Hank.

Danny Bell and His Disappointments new single ‘Killing Birds’ is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more info, please visit dannybell.org.

WiL Releases New Single PRECIOUS

2ND SINGLE FROM NEW ALBUM
THE GOLD MINE OUT ON MAY 13th

"A strikingly gorgeous romantic ode fashioned from a tentatively twinkling piano, an insistently thrumming guitar, gently thumping tom-toms and WiL‘s soaring, soul-baring vocals..." - Tinnitist

BC singer-songwriter WiL is excited to announce the release of his new single 'Precious' out today on all digital streaming platforms. Listen here.

'Precious' follows the April 1st release of 'I'm Sorry', from WiL's sixth studio album The Gold Mine, set for release on May 13th.

Many of the songs on The Gold Mine deal with the realities of being in a long-term relationship - the good, the bad, and the ugly. ‘Precious’ speaks to going through difficult times with your partner and then coming out on the other side and realizing how much that person means to you.

"If you've lived enough time, there comes a point when you look around you and realize who really matters," says WiL. “It could be a person or pet or whatever. And you know your life is that much more enriched for having them in it."

While WiL’s catalogue grows, his music has become the soundtrack for many. Countless fans have chosen ‘Oak Tree’ as their wedding dance, partied to ‘Both Hands’ holding a wine bottle and sung ‘Roam' while hiking far away snow-capped peaks. With this new album, perhaps they’ll find a new nugget of gold to add to their music playlists.

'Precious' is available now on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services worldwide. For more info, please visit ibreakstrings.com.
