'Friends' is the third single from The Blaze Velluto Collection's third LP What's On Your Mind? set for release on September 29th. With its enigmatic rhythms, 'Friends' captivates the ear with a theme that's easy to relate to: friendship.

"'Friends' is an ode to these people that come and go in our lives," says Blaze. "Some are there for a while, and some are here to stay. You might not see each other often, but when true love exists, they could be dead and still you'd know they're watching your back. Some individuals are there to serve a purpose, others appear momentarily and may be the best person you’ve ever met...circumstances. In our lifetime, we get to be all of them."

The Blaze Velluto Collection takes its name from a collection of songs assembled by the enigmatic Blaze himself. Raised in Quebec City’s anglophone community, he carries a music without boundaries through a blend of rock n' roll, folk, country, pop and R&B, wrapped in a benevolent psychedelic spirit and fertile imagery. This amalgam of genres also shines through the project's iconic visual identity. Over the years, Blaze has delivered music videos that transcend the limits of the mind. 

Since releasing their debut album Weatherman in 2017, The Blaze Velluto Collection has captivated Quebec and Canadian audiences, playing in festivals with a show that transports us to coastal America in the heart of July. On stage, Blaze is surrounded by a core group of musicians and singers composed of Little Miss Roy, Sheenah Ko, Guillaume Chiasson (Bon Enfant) and Jean-Étienne Collin-Marcoux (Beat Sexü). In the studio, he has made a habit of bringing together over fifteen artists and friends during the production of his albums. Once again, the experiment has been fruitful, with Blaze preparing to unveil the expansive sound of What's on Your Mind? this fall, like a pledge to an endless summer.

Toronto Musician Sandra Bouza Releases New Single + Video THE BOTTLE

Toronto musician Sandra Bouza leans into her blues-rock roots with her new single and video ‘The Bottle' out now on all digital streaming platforms. Listen here. 

The third single from her new album, A Sound In The Dark, set for release on September 29th, 'The Bottle’ is about Sandra's struggle with addiction and how alcohol and drugs were such a big part of her identity that she had a hard time separating those parts from the healthy parts that she wanted to keep in her sobriety.

"'The Bottle' is a song I wrote from the perspective of the person I used to be when I was using, and all the different personalities that came out of my 'partying' persona and the conflict between all of those characters," says Sandra. "The many different angles and reflections in the video represent all of those different personalities, and never really knowing which one is the real Sandra, just like you would see in a person struggling with addiction."

Known as a musical shapeshifter, playing R&B, Soul, Rock, and everything in between, Sandra has a lot to offer through her music and life experience. Having spent a large part of her life in Spain, as well as travelling to far corners of the world, Sandra’s worldly vision is evident in her songwriting. Sandra lets her stories breathe in songs that are deeply personal.

After years of travelling, Sandra returned to her hometown of Toronto in 2018 and, within her first year back, she won the Toronto Blues Talent search and came second in the city’s prestigious Soul Slam. The early promise of Three Years, her 2018 EP, and Falling Away From Me, her first full-length album that followed in 2020, put everyone on notice that Sandra Bouza was an artist to watch.

Everything came together for Sandra during an artist’s residence on Halls Island, where she wrote most of the material for her upcoming album, A Sound in the Dark. Everyone who’s heard her sing knows that Sandra’s always been a powerful vocalist and a compelling songwriter, but with the new recording, she has truly found her own voice, and the promise of her earlier work has come to full fruition.

BC Musician Liam Docherty Releases New Album GEMINI RISING

Along with the album release, Liam is also premiering the lyric video for 2nd single 'Life On The West Coast'. The track is a devastating social critique of the inequity of life in Vancouver in 2023, as seen through the eyes of a 15-year musician. Some people experience Vancouver as "one of the most livable cities in the world" a place of natural beauty, opportunity, and wealth ('Cool sea breeze and the sun in the sky'), while others experience suffering and a struggle to survive ('You can trust me, I'll leave you to die').

"'Life On The West Coast' tells a story about four fictional characters from different socio-economic backgrounds as they navigate life in Vancouver in 2023," says Liam. "It addresses and reflects back common themes regularly represented in the media of wealth inequality, unaffordable housing, and the toxic drug crisis in the 2020s. The song asks the listener, 'How does Vancouver look through YOUR eyes?' And it finishes with 'we’re all just trying to find our way, searching for a brighter day'—a plea for compassion and recognition of the lives being led by others." 

Based on Vancouver Island, Liam Docherty is an official partner of Taylor Guitars and has been performing publicly since the age of 7. His new LP Gemini Rising follows the release of his 2020 debut album Modern. Magic. Melody., which earned critical acclaim and sold records internationally. The album also received TV, radio, and print media coverage from CBC, The Globe & Mail, The Vancouver Sun, The Times Colonist, and CHEK TV. It also yielded a nomination for New Act of The Year at the Maple Blues Awards and at just 13 years of age, he became the youngest person in the history of the awards to be nominated.

The second single from her new album, A Sound In The Dark, set for release on September 29th, 'Good Vibrations’ is about wanting to get past all of those horrible feelings right after a break-up. 

"This song was me trying to sum up all of those confusing feelings after a relationship ends,” says Sandra. "This relationship was also my first experience of being in love, so there was a lot of confusion swirling around, and questioning of decisions. Sometimes you want to bypass the questions to end all the emotional pain, and just go back to your comfort zone, even if it wasn’t that comfortable."

'Baby (You Set My Love on Fire Everyday)' is the second single from The Blaze Velluto Collection's third LP What's on Your Mind? set for release on September 29th. Written by Blaze about his musical and life partner Little Miss Roy (who shares vocals on the song), the countryfied folk rock track feels new and timeless at the same time. 

"We met twenty years ago in the month of May," says Blaze. "We had our share of bad weather, but mostly sunshine. Infatuation is a phase, love is not. Here's an introduction to our story."
